www.heavythrottle.com is a great resource and yes there are people in spokane that have done SR swaps. BTW where are you getting your motor from?

Supra98

Probably Jazz pro.. there were featured in a super street article and they have a 100% start up warrenty and it comes with everything..

or what would you recomend

erogori

there are a TON of places. Most places will have a start up warranty and will include the accessories you need to get it going.

I know people who have gotten motors from www.dragdriftautox.com
www.venus-auto.com , www.heavythrottle.com , and I personally know the owner of Drift Office in Auburn. I would suggest buying a motor from somewhere in the NW (seattle/oregon) because you can personally go and check it out. I frequent www.zilvia.com and there are a ton of vendors there. BTW what kind of shape is your KA in? Is it DOHC??

As a side note I just rode in my buddy's KA-T setup and it seriously rips.

no i have a SOHC with 267000 miles lol it should be on it last leg but its runnign strong.. you know anyone with a black cpe or HB for cheap or a shell

Don't buy a front clip, waste of money. Also don't buy from Venus auto. They screwed me over and I ended up waiting ten weeks for a new maf, six weeks for a new injector rail and injectors, they never replaced the bad tranny, and they weren't even nice about replacing the parts. Overal a horrible experience.

Foreign Engines out of Boise had me a badass 7M the next day after calling, delivered to my door, cleaned, leak tested, compression tested, for $629. That included free shipping. Then, they'll sell you a complete gasket kit for 100 bucks more (highly recomended).

They were super cool, very professional, and QUICK.

Im pretty sure they charge $529 for four cylinders, but it will probably be more with the turbo. Also, if you buy a turbo engine, their warranty drops from their usual 1 year to a 1 month all internals covered warranty. Still though great prices, and my experience with them was awesome, next engine I blow Im comin to them.

unless your car is crapping out I wouldn't waste your time on KA24DE swap. Just a little extra cash can get you a CA, RB, or an SR swap.

Hey im actually thinking of doing an sr20det swap in my 1975 Datsun 280z. has anyone done that? comments? sugesstions?

sefus

Unless you are going for a Tokyo Drift theme, toss a domestic v8 in there if anything. Less money, more power, less laughter.

06-26-2007, 09:41 PM
well my man is actually doin a 350 in his 78 280z as we speak, so i didnt want to totally copy him... and i want something boosted but i think a boosted 350 would be way to much for my lil ass....

sefus
06-27-2007, 09:31 AM
Super charged Buick 3.8 v6, turbo chevy straight 6, detuned turbo ford 302, or even a toyota 7mgte turbo straight 6. Lots of options to still be different and all can come in under a couple grand including the motor. I always have liked those 280's.

yeah i dont know exactly what to do yet... i know i want to pull the motor this winter cuz its got like 250k on it...i dont know tho... ill have to research some more shit... i heard the 350 swap is one of the easiest but idk... well see. im open to more suggestions.

Gsolo
06-27-2007, 09:55 PM
hope we aren't jacking thread...but Z cars need at least inline 6 or SBC. Stick nissan get RB26DETT...or go different, yota 2jzgte. hell...the L28 can still be made very strong and turbo'd

Back to main topic...I use to be all about the CA18DET...but I think money wise you can "relatively cheap" do SR20DET, bang for buck good.

280z_girl
06-27-2007, 10:00 PM
yeah ive seen thos and the rb20 turbo for pretty cheap...complete swaps are like 1500 -2000

Consider an RB25 or 1JZGTE both can be had for relatively cheap and both can lay down some power while having good reliability.

ddx is dragdriftautox

drift office is well...... drift office.

they did a bunch of work when Formula-D came to seattle last year, as explained in this article.
the owner is super chill, and his crew are top noch.

Mr. Hoy
06-29-2007, 04:41 PM
drift office is a great shop, but they charge like they got the last SR's in the world and its only 3 weeks til race warzzz yo. Tight shop, but don't look in their direction without $6,000 in your pocket.

DDX is a great place too, they go through inventory super fast so sometimes you have to preorder stuff, but shipments are always on their way so its not too long of a wait.

Gsolo

i have heard a lot of good things about DDX when it comes to nissans....but they didn't really want to help me when I was trying to get ahold of a 4age

Thanks for the props ~ for the record, we don't charge $6000 for a swap, so I'm not sure where you got that number from. Additionally. from my understanding, we're probably the only one that packages a FMIC for the same price as anyone else's swap.
This is what's included in a regular package :

SR20DET Blacktop
Brand New PS Steering Line
Brand New 255LPH Fuel Pump
Brand New Oil / Fuel Filters
Brand New Sparks
Brand New FMIC ~ Greddy Type M
Brand New Relocated Battery
30 Day Start-up Warranty, W/O Accessories

$4500.00

We're booked for about 11 swaps out right now, so I don't think our pricing is out of line. Additionally, I like to use as many BRAND NEW parts as possible. That way, it reduces the likelyhood of problems cropping up ~ especially when the customer is afar... :)

Scotty : Next time you're in town, let me get you in on the dyno and we'll know exactly what you're getting out of that install. That's a given with any of our installs now. :)

Regards!

Bob @ Drift-Office, LLC

Edit : If anyone's coming over to Formula D, come hit us up at the booth or look for me in the pits with our Drift-Office S13 running for the rest of the FD 2007 season!

Correct, your swap itself is NOT $6000, however, a lot of people do add extras for a peace of mind. Nearly everyone I know of will get a new clutch and flywheel or resurface factory FW. So lets say $400 for a brand name clutch/resurface or $700 for clutch/fw combo + Labor. A new DP is needed no matter what, but once again, most go with 3" turbo back exhaust. So ebay it at $350 or go brand name at $800ish on the low side for elbow, dp, highflow cat/test pipe, and cat-back. Its always nice to upgrade the cooling system a bit especially with fmic's so lets toss in a Koyo Radiator and e-fans, $400 ish depending on what fans you use. Now if we get into maintenance parts, some people are anally meticulous and will change water and oil pumps, thats another $290ish. I could go on, but anywho its safe to say $5000-$6000 comes quick without effort, but by now I'm boring everyone to death and we all get the point, I do think you're a great shop, one of the best in the NW and I'm glad you made it here, you will be a wealth of knowledge. Welcome to the board and cheers:beer:

...you start adding in all the crap that ppl do when swapping i can see easy $6k....but i think he's trying to let us know that they do not charge that for a normal swap package......actually 4500 sounds relatively reasonable for that...i think just imported used motor goes for 2k....get most of what you need to drop it in makes it sometimes worth it rather than dicking with making stuff work yourself.

im still impressed with it.

had it for 4 months now. hasnt dropped a drop of oil, coolant is just as full as when they did the swap.
wiring is so clean i can just stare at my engine bay.
1 <3 my SR20DET.

cant wait for my next trip over to hit the dyno.

What about uncut wiring, lower tranny harness, MAF, Ignitor and are we talking red top or black top? Do you keep these in stock?.. like if I walked in there tomorrow with someone to purchase one, I could take it home then and there?
