OK I feel like a dumbass asking but here goes. We are putting together the kids b18 and need to check crank end play. The book says to leave the thrust bearing loose while checking. PROBLEM; where the hell is the thrust bearing? There is no info in the Chiltons about it. I haven't put the gauge on it yet but there seems to be a LOT of end play. If anyone has any info or pics that would help. Also, this Chilton manuel sucks. Are there any better ones?

Honda Factory Service Manual

The thrust bearings are sold as a set. It includes two like pieces (at least that is what I believe, because that is what I assumed while installing them). The bearings keep the crankshaft from moving in a direction parallel to its long axis. They are installed against a machined surface on both sides of the #4 main crankshaft bearing support that is cast into my B20B engine block. There is no provision for the bearing to fit against the main cap on either side. There are no oil holes in this bearing although it has two of what I will call vertical grooves machined into the bearing face of it. It is also bevelled on the ends. There is what I guess is a partial part number or a casting number on the side opposite the bearing surface. Hope that was helpful and not confusing.

Here is the link to get factory service manuals. They are an ABSOLUTE MUST if you are doing this engine build....and they are also around 70 bux.

I have the 95 integra service manual I can check if thats the only info you need, but it will have to wait until this coming weekend. You can give me a call if you need too.

Thanx guys. I knew it was something simple. I'll have to pick up a factory manual!
