I would like to have my SRT-4 dynoed and I wondered what it would cost to have my car dynoed and I wondered if there is anything that I need to do to the car before I bring it to the dyno. My friend got his SRT-4 dynoed and he had a tack signal problem on I believe it was a dynojet and was not able to get accurate figures. Also how hard is it to get an Air fuel ration on the dyno? I appreciate any information that you can provide me.

Thank You.

What are some things you have done to your car?

For the air fuel they just stick a sniffer in your exhaust (like the ones they have for emissions).

Hi and Tank you for your replies.**I have installed the following items on my Dodge SRT-4:

Car:
-2005 SRT-4
-Orange Blast and ready for fun!

Engine:
-PTP fuel Pressure Regulator Mod
-3 Inch Mpx Stainless Steel Exhaust with a 3” O2 Housing/Turbo Elbow -and a High Flow Cat
-Mpx Front Mount Intercooler
-AGP Waste Gate Actuator Set to about 18.5 Pounds up from 14 Pounds Stock
-Stage 1 Mopar Computer
-AEM cold Air intake
-BoomBa BOV with a 16 pound spring installed

Suspension:
-Hotchkis Springs
-Hotchkis Sway Bars

I really want to know what kind of gains I have made in Hp and Torque and I want to make sure that I am not running to lean.**I would like the opportunity to very the pressure on the WGA and see how it effects HP and air fuel ratios.**Nothing major, I just want to explore the limits and a safe area for the car to run for longevity.

In the future I would like to add a Wallboro fuel pump and maybe a fuel return line.**All in all it is a fun car, not quite the coveted EVO you have and not as flexible and dynamic as a Honda ;-)!!!**I had a CRX many moons ago in 1987 and wish I had it too this day. The Evo, if I could have afforded it, would be my first pick bar none!

I want to do track days out at the Dragstrip GP Track, some autocross and drag racing too.**I would like to become a better driver.

Cheers,

Jeff

Thank You Brian!

I see, must not be you then.

My mods as of last year where: Buschur intake, O2 housing, FMIC, mini battery, and UICP. 10.5 hotside. RMR/HKS TBE. DC Sports manifold. GSC 272/264 cams. Cusco Twin Disc clutch. Dynoflash.

This year Ive added, GSC 280/280 cams, Buschur Motor Mount, Megan coilovers, and SMC alky kit. I also got a Zeitronix wideband and all the software to log and tune it.

From what ive seen from my buddies SRT-4, the come from the factory pig rich. I think the Greddy Emange is quite popular among the srt-4 community, if you could find one of those or an AFC unit you could dial in your a/f and possible see some more gains while still being safe.

My buddies SRT-4 w/ stageIII was 10:1 a/f through out the rpm range. :o

i ll check the schedule and repost but i think i could do something wensday. the cost is 80.00 plus tax for hp,tq and A/F readings. and takes about a hour tottal time.

The AWD Dynojet I was looking to buy is $60,000. If there were enough people willing to pay the going rate for 3 pulls on a awd dyno, it would already be here. Most shops in SoCal charge $125 for 3 pulls.

You know, from a business standpoint, its gonna take more than just a dyno alone to justify spending the $50,000-$100,000+, UNLESS you are constantly working on customer's projects who'll then want to put it up on the rollers to tune or get some HP numbers to justify dumping the loot into their projects.

I bet that its a small percentage of random people who call into Shellys wanting to dyno. Think about how many 3 run pulls it would take to pay off the cost of the dyno. I think Shelly's is successful at what they do b/c they can pretty much do it all from start to finish if thats what it requires. I don't think there are any import shops that have enough know-how and commitment to cater to an AWD import crowd. Totally not worth the investment if all you have is the dyno, and are dependant on revenues from the dyno.**We have enough trouble with the current import "race" shops as it is... all they want to do is sell intakes and exhausts... I can't see that people would be lined up ready to pay 75-100 for a couple of dyno pulls to see how much HP they gained from their $20 cold air intake and Junk2 exhaust systems. although, that would be a funny sight to see! haha...

now if somebody where to open up a real import car shop that could actually do all in house fabrication, build, tune, and dyno... then that would be a different story. Look at kaizenspeed for example, located in the middle of washington, and hes must be doing quiet good.

I know the guy that supposedly picked up and AWD dyno for $1000 thats 8 years old and has been sitting for quite some time. he was tryin to sell it to Head at tranceworks, or he was thinking about putting it in a shop. I dont know the validity behind all this, but we'll see. Its Apparently got the 2 rollers in the rear and then a total of 6 in the front.

You are 100% right Meng. The numbers for a dyno alone do not justify the purchase. The shop needs to be full service including one-off fab and I believe that the shop still needs to supplement the income with another source (i.e. signature production parts).
I have been contemplating this for quite some time now, in fact it was the reason I went back to school for engineering.

The majority of current "import performance shops" are not helping our cause. Has anyone heard a Snow's commercial lately? They advertise cell phones more than performance parts...what a joke. With the exception of Shelley's, how many shops have cars showing up and putting on a good show?? None. Someday I hope to fix that.

For now I am stuck in Pullman, but I have faith that at some point we will have a true import speed shop in the area.

Its gonna take someone with some sort of educational decipline and some business savy to be successful.

Now watch as everyone races to sketch up their business plans... lol...

I think i'll stick to investment banking... but i still have big dreams of building something that's gonna rival the Urban Legend. muahahahaha.... :P

Using your build as a benchmark and if given an equal budget, i could build and tune a car to be equally fast. so now its just a money thing, and that'll come in a short time.

should be fun...

I had a great time going to Shelly’s; meeting Brian and getting my Dodge SRT-4 Dynoed.**Something unique about the shop was they had lots of awesome muscle cars and they were doing tuner cars too! Definitely a power shop for sure.**Since I have never been their before it was a great mix of cars from my point of view.**Seeing I am a country boy from Kettle Falls, Washington, I really appreciated that Shelly’s is off the beaten path on a nice country road.**Brian got my car in place, got her all buckled down and it was dynomania!!!

Here is a link with the official results:

http://www.blk-leather.com/SRT4.htm

My first pull was with 17 pounds of boost and I netted 276 WHP and 307 Foot pounds of torque.**After the first 3 pulls it was play time with the Waste Gate Actuator (WGA). My best pulls were at 21 pounds of boost rolling off to about 16 pounds towards redline:
287 Wheel HP
327 Foot Pounds of Torque

The guys at Shelly's were real cool!!!** They actually did about 8 pulls on it and we adjusted Waste Gate Actuator Settings after the first 3 pulls.**Pump it up!!!**Brian and all the guys their really care about what’s going on with your car and this dyno was worth every penny.**I have to give Brian at Shelly’s a big Thank You!!!**They are very helpful and assertive group even at 8:30 in the morning (Good Coffee ;-).**The place just totally rocks.

In the end my little orange front wheel drive rocket is happy with the performance we were able to obtain with the bolt on mods listed below and the tuned performance compliments of Brian and Shelly’s dyno.**Their hospitality netted me an additional 11 Wheel Horse Power and 20 foot pounds of torque.** Not a bad day for an Orange Bomb Neon on Steroids (SRT-4) that gets 24 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway….ohhhhhh yaaaaa!

Thank You!!!
