Well I just got back from some street tuning and I'm very happy with my water/meth injection I purchase from Meng.
The "DevilsOwn" water/meth injection is awesome! The car pulls really clean on the top end now.
Before you could see some knock on the read-out and feel the timing being pulled. Now its nice and smooth and keeps you stuck into the seat all the way red line.
My 55 gallon of methanol delivery has been delayed so I went with some Denatured Alcohol from Klean Strip. Its a 50/50 mix of ethanol and Methanol. With less then 1% MEK.
I went through about 16oz tonight with boost anywhere from 18psi to 20psi on pump. I pulled out 5 more degrees of timing just as a safety net.
I know I'm going to here it from Reid about the Band Aid deal. So excuse me while a hack up some Crow bones.;-) But my plan was to keep my car stock appearing by running a stock looking 14b turbo with a stock
inter-cooler.
I'm seeing a 85*F decrease in intake temps with the water/meth setup. Which is more then I hoped for. According to Spearco any air to air inter-cooler that delivers a 70*F to 75*F decrease is a nice unit.
Thanks Meng for the killer deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no prob, i knew you'd put it to good use!
which nozzle are you running?

what are your settings for initial spray and full?

I ended up using the largest one of the three I got from you. I couldn't find a number on it so I'm not sure what GPH it is. Without a FMIC it really wants the volume ;-)
My inital spray is at 3psi and full at 15 psi. While running 18 to 20psi.
I'm running a 50/50 mix of alcohol and water.

Iv'e heard good things about the Devils Own kits. I need to get me some meth on the firebird and try to make some more pump gas power! My junk old motor would be the perfect test bed to push the limits of pump gas cuz if it blew up it doesnt really matter. Whats the difference if it has a hole in the block when it would still make a good boat anchor!

Russell,
the largest nozzle i had with the kit is 5gph.
With the meth i'm sure you'll definately need a larger nozzle down the road.

With their calculator on my app. it came out to 4.85 GPH. So I luck out.
So I will be ordering a few more nozzles in the future when I finally get the balls to turn things up.
Thanks for th info!

Works awesome!!!
I screwed up early Saturday Morning and accidentally put antifreeze into the reservoir. doh! Only about 4 oz's until I realized it had a nice yellow look to it. So I dump it out and washed out the reservoir.
In a big hurry for nothing. Still pissed didn't get to go racing. :-(
The car pulls really nice at 18psi. I did realized I was running about a 1/2 point richer A/F. So I pulled out some fuel and now have it tuned from 11.7 to 12.0 at this psi.
How much of a increase did you notice in your A/F ratio's?

So are you running 100% meth? I ended up getting alittle bit on Thursday to get ready for the races only not to need it. Not only because of the track but because of the pump going out.

No I'm still on the De-natured alcohol and water 50/50 mix.

Man, you guys really got me thinking about a kit now. I do everything on pump gas so i think this would help. I think it would help give me a safetly net since im just teaching myself how to tune. Just gotta decide if i wanna buy a kit or piece it together. A resivoir, pump, hobbs switch, nitrous solenoid, and propper jet is how we were setting them up on a couple dsm's last year.

The other reason I'm running water/ alcohol mix right now is for the cleaning ability of the water. About a week of driving and tuning should help get rid of any carbon deposits.
There was a great article about the engine masters build up on how they would use water between pulls to keep the carbon deposits down. (pump gas mandatory fuel) Because they noticed that when they did their first pulls the engines wouldn't detonate. But later on after a few pulls they would start to detonate. So they ran water through them between rounds to remedy this.

Hey, quick question. Are 1G and 2G BOV flanges on DSM's the same?

whoa, antifreeze huh? lol... good thing you cought that before running though.
With the 5gph nozzle i had to displace about 25% fuel. I used a target of 12:1, a 50/50 mixture, and on 550cc injectors.
I don't recall exactly how how much of an increase in a/fs since it was a long process of working with the 2gph nozzle, then 3gph, and finally 5gph.
Russell, i just remembered, if you are still using the innovative lm1, which i think has lambda display right? I used lambda and it makes tuning w/i a cake! But i'm sure you already noticed that the 50/50 mix yields a similar a/f as gas, which makes tuning with a/f display a little easier too.

I don't think water injection should be introduced untill you actually reach the knock limits of pump gas on your application. If you do, besides the steam cleaning, you probably won't notice much difference. Also, introducing W/I complicates the tuning strategy, you'll have to already know a little something about how ignition works along with a/fs, since a/fs get all jacked up.

After checking through my logs I was mistaking. I made a change to my pulse width and didn't realize until now.
So the water/meth injection didn't change my a/f at all.
