Okay, I just put in my turbo kit in this weekend, but for some reason the turbo keeps spittin out oil from the exhaust side? Does this mean that the turbo is bad, or is it common on these subaru turbos? Also I have it in my sohc d15b. I have already went thru 3 of these turbos and still the same. I got it flipped the right way, (feed on top, drain on bottom) still not working. The car will boost just fine but it will smoke like crazy because oil keeps coming out. Oh yeah, turbo came out a 88 subaru. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS BECOMING A HEADACHE AND A PAIN IN THE ASS. LET ME KNOW YOUR SUGGESTIONS.

MRVang,
It sounds like the seals are toast and/or you are getting too much oil pressure, which is a common thing for Hondas. You'll need some sort of oil restrictor on the line.

but usually those old suby turbos get used and abused so the seals might be on its way out the door.

Well, what should I do? Sould I use a smaller "oil feed line," as of right now i am using a "4an." Thats what my buddy said. Sould i possible use a "3am." Because I have all ready went through 3 of these turbo's and don't want to buy and new one and have the same problem.

well kryptosol, the oil restrictor (.063 orfice) is on it's way. For the time being I changed my oil feed line. The old one was a 4an and i just put in a 3an. It made a bit of a difference but under heavy acceleration oil still spits out. Do you still think that there is to much pressure? Lmk, also if anyone has the same setup, I would like to know if you had any of these problems. Thanks guys, more info would still help. I will keep everyone updated.

as your rpm gets higher your oil pressure gets higher too on most cars I've played with since they have a positive displacement pump that spins according to the speed of the engine.

so what you trying to say is, it's regular???

what I'm saying is that subaru motors sound like shit.....and your oil pressure is prolly too high :-)

3 things to do when turboing a Honda, i'd imagine its the same for most turbo'd applications.

1) you got to regulate the oil pressure entering the feed inlet. I actually have a gauge hooked up to my oil feed and when cold or high rpms it reaches 50-60psi and thats after the restrictor! That might just be enough to push past the seals, especially if they are worn.

2) proper oil drain. I'd recomend at the very least 1/2". I run 5/8" drain b/c my SOHC flows mad oil, yo!

3) You need proper crankcase ventilation. Most overlook this step, but excess crankcase will try to find the easiest way out, and that will mean blowing out gaskets or backing up the oil drain.
