Well lets see what you get for a reason. I was told that is was sprinkling and that even if it stops the weather is to cold for the track to dry. Supposed to be mid 50's, didnt know asphalt could dry in 50 degree weather?

It is sprinkling. You can't deny it. Do you really want to race on a wet track?
NIevo
04-21-2007, 08:09 AM
Yes. Thing is they arent supposed to start for 4 hrs.

They did the same thing all last year. If it rains on race day, even in the morning, they cancel. At least they're consistent.

Rain is "supposed" to stop around noon. Hell, autocross was open last Saturday and it was raining a hell of a lot more than today!

Well it is a good excuse (the rain) for their BIGGER problem out there. Myself and a handful of other people went out last night to the track to make sure all the timing system was working properly. IT WASNT. Imagine that. All the equipment was on but couldnt get a signal from the track to the computer in the tower. So nothing worked and they had no avenues to take this late in the week to get it repaired. After the discussion I heard last night lets hope and pray they will even open in May (if you know what I mean)

Well....a bunch of us met up at Dennys and had a good meal, then decided to head out to the track to see how it really was out there. And Wouldnt ya know it, everything was dry. There were a couple of basketball sized puddles in the pits, but the track was fine. So according to the guy thats out there it was an insurance issue where their insurance guy came out and said he would cover the track because it was sprinkling 4 hours before the track was to even open. So ya....when we were out there...the track was dry, the sun was shining, and there was a slight breeze......Excellent reason to keep the track closed. At least we let them know we were serious about racing when 15 cars showed up all at once ready to race. Lame....I wanted to race!

In defense of the track...it rained off and on all day saturday at my shop ( I can see the tower from my door) and even if they would have opened i doubt we would have even gotten one full race in before it started raining again.
NIevo
04-22-2007, 02:04 PM
Well we were out there for almost 45 minutes with no rain and it hadnt rained for awhile, the track could have already been running. Also almost any other track even if it does on/off rain it only takes 30-45minutes to dry off.

I agree...and I think everyone missed my post. Again, they had no timing equipment. I spent 2 hours out there Friday night and none of the lights would work. The rain just happen to be a good excuse for a bigger problem. We wouldnt have been racing anyway.

Regardless of how you "felt" out there for 45 minutes, the weather wasnt going to allow racing. I wanted to race too. I was at my shop at 7:30am saturday getting things ready, but it wasnt going to happen. SRP is not almost any other track...it's SRP and as soon as people realize this we will hear a lot less bitching.

No, we saw your post but you werent very clear on anything. All you said is there probably wouldnt be racing and it wouldnt be because of the weather.

How I "felt"? Where did I say anything about how I felt? The only way theres going to be less bitching is when someone else takes over who knows what the hell they are doing or its sold and made into a golf course. Either way there would be more racing then now.

Im so sick of people bitching. Racing didnt happen, get over it.
Regardless of whether the timing thing would have closed the track or not, I was at my shop ALL DAY and it was wet ALL DAY. If you want a track that can guarantee racing in April move to So. Cal or Vegas.

I hate going to the FNSR, but i usually end up going because most of my peoples go. I might just ride along on the 4th.
