So what am I looking at paying to get my trucks paint buffed out, the paint isn't perfect but I see the oxidation where I pulled the pin stripes off and am planning to debadge and pull other plasic molding off of it.
I thought about trying it myself but not sure about equipment and products to use. Oh and there is the whole burning the paint thing! ;)

So anyway.... I decided to tackle this myself and I am surprised how nice the truck looks now. I do have a question for the paint experts.
I sanded a little too far on one of the doors, sanded right thru the clear coat. :( I was wondering if I could clear coat that little area and try to buff it out again? If so what sort of clearcoat am I looking to get for stock paint. Enamel?
I have also debadged the truck, even with the eraser wheel it took forever as my truck is 14 years old the glue/tape was hard.

very likely that the sanded through area will lift. And no you don't use enamel paint on cars (unless youre a redneck :) )
Is the paint metallic or solid color, easier to fix it with solid color. If metallic then proper way would be reshoot door, depending how nice you want it to look.

I was afraid of that, it is a dark pearl metallic blue (Montego I believe) To be honest, my trucks paint has seen better days but I figured I would just give the sanding a try since I believe it to be original paint. It get's scratched up when I take it into the woods, my uncle and brother borrowed it last fall and gave the paint a good beating. LOL
I guess I learned my lesson to be more careful. LOL I have a little bit of lacquer made up from when I did the scoops and grill but the tint is off a little bit. ENAMEL aint nuttin, when I was a kid I saw the neighbor paint his el Camino with house paint. LOL
Thanks for the info.
