I am going to rescedule the dyno day. it is a lot of work to get everything clean and ready for just a few people. Sorry for the late notice but there is only 3 or 4 people on the list so far and that is not enough to warant all the prep, being that we are so busy at this time on regular fab and our standard work.
Pls let me know when it would be a better time so we can have a good meet and everyone will be ready.

im gonna need the extra time to get the motor out tore down and re-furbed, solid roller cam getting bigger valves and some other good's. brian, cause he talks alot about the dyno place and your truck and some other local hot rodders just was wondering. when i get that solid roller cam in there i am shooting for 570+ horse. not going to be bad at all for a 283 :D

You still thinking about a dyno day sometime soon, Brian?
If not then i might schedule a date with you in a week or two, if you aren't too busy.
I think i found the culprit!

Well, i don't know for sure yet b/c i ran out of race gas and havn't ran the car in high boost yet. Eversince last year when i upped the boost to 20-25psi, as it approached 18-20psi range the boost would start to flutter really fast +/- 5psi and then eventually settle out at 25. Initially i thought that it could be comrpessor surge, which now i'm not so sure it is.
I had a 8psi wastegate spring and i suspect that in the upper boost levels, the spring not being strong enough to hold back the exhaust pressure, it would actually crack the wastegate piston just enough to cause excess lag. I think that the threshold of tipping the equlibrium was probably occuring where i was seeing the flutter. That might explain why my little 50trim is spooling way late compared to other similar builds with larger turbos.
Thats my theory anyway. Its the only logical thing i could come up with. ive now got a 1bar spring in it and if that dosn't work then i'm gonna roll my car off a cliff.
I ditched the z6 intake manifold for something a little more suitable so we'll see if there are some improvements.
what size spring did you run in your old hatch Russ?

Meng I think it's time for you to step up to the big boys and run a bigger turbo :)

I don't see a need to step up when the 50trim should get me my goals.

Its a 8lb spring in a turbonetics delta gate.

Hmmm... yeah, after doing some digging i found that some people could get a 8-10psi spring to 20+ no problem while others where experiencing similar probs as i. I figure it could be due to wastegate placement on the manifold-in a high pressure area. I guess it would also depend a lot on type of boost controler and how its hooked up.
Ive got mine my bleeder type boost controler hooked up to the side port, which would mean that its dependant on the spring to keep the pressure back. There is a way to plumb in a MBC to use both ports on a wastegate, (inputs are turned into oposite the normal way) where the pressure helps keep the WG piston closed. It makes things too complicated with the dual stage boost controler i'm using.
I drove the car to school today and even with the low boost setting i can tell it spools up 5-8psi before hitting high cam, where as before it would not spool untill high cam. I dunno, i'll have to wait to put it up on a dyno to conclude my findings.
