Well, just wanted to say thanks to Brian for waking up early and working getting the Teg on the dyno.
We had some weird timing issues all day, but I believe that the distributer is the culprit. The car started making only 132 hp @ 7psi with i figure about 10-12* of actual timing. After playing with the ignition map we got the car to a conservative tune of 196.4 hp @ 7psi. This was done with a small trim t3/t4 turbonetics kit.
I had hoped to see around 220whp @ 7psi so we could get there with a little more timing. Tuning will resume once I get a good distributer in the car.
Thanks again Brian

What are you using for fuel mangement?
and whats the trim of the "small trim" hybrid?
Just curious, was it breaking up???

The car is being tuned on AEM.**I think the turbo is around a 47 trim.**Next time I come up I am going to write down the number and get the compressor map from turbonetics.
About the timing issues.**When I showed for the dyno we checked idle timing and it showed only about 2* actual timing when the ign parameters showed 16* total timing.**We free revved to 3000rpm and the parameters showed 35*(which was correct according to the ign. map) but the actual timing was only at 21*.**I tuned the AFR's first and then started to play with timing, increasing about 2* each pull.**The torque values kept rising and the hp and toque curves smoothed out each time.**We pulled the plugs at about pull #6 and the timing mark was barely even showing on the plug.**At this time I was at 29* timing in the ign map.**We continued in 2* increments and the torque kept climbing.**We got to 196.4 hp and 178(i think) ft-lbs torque and the ign map showed 34* timing at full load.**I figure if the actual timing and map followed the original pattern I was at 20-22* actual timing.
I made one final pull and shut the car off at the top end to check the plugs.**We did so, and the timing mark was barely at the start of the bend in the strap.**This was good enough for now, but the car wouldnt start again.**I check the ignition parameters displayed by AEM and it showed -17.00* timing while it was "trying" to idle.**I restarted the computer and reloaded the map but still got the same result.
I took the car back to the shop and Russ and I pulled the dizzy and took it apart, nothing loose or anything.**We reloaded the map I had tuned on the dyno with the same result.**I then loaded the map I started with at the dyno and the car fired.**So I figure something happened with the other map.**I copy and pasted the tuned maps into the running map and the car fired right up.**So we decided to take it for a spin...well shit, now the car acts like it has WAY too much timing in boost.**We were already late to the track so I didnt get to recheck idle timing with the light, but I am pretty certain it will match the ign parameters now.
The dizzy that is in the car was built with parts I had from several other distributers, but it was done in the same way as my white turbo hatch. I am going to get a new vtec dizzy and see if that fixes the problem.

Sounds crazy...

yep.**If anyone else has ideas about what it could be let me know. :)
Some good news though.**I just called turbonetics and they tell me the turbo on this kit(if this is the right kit) is the T04B V-trim which is a little bigger than I thought, but I did some calculations and at the power we made, we needed 22.54 lb/min of airflow with a pressure ratio of 1.5(about 7lbs) which is pretty much right where we were.
I plotted the operating range from 4000 to 7800 on the compressor map and it shows we were in a good operating point, but the turbo has some left in it.**Below you can see the operating line at a pressure ratio of 1.5 drawn in red.**The blue line would be at 300hp, as you can see lower RPMs would give us major issues.**I figure we could safely hit 250 if we turned the boost up a little.

if i'm not mistaken, that looks similar to the 57trim comp map.
