Where should a guy go to get some steel plates (some thing like 1/4 inch thick) and some some thin sheet tin (or whatever will cover my rear seat back area and look good)?
Thanks!

Pacific Steel & Recyclers. Their yard is full of steel for cheap (relatively). They are off Trent near West of Freya I think.
Or if you are looking for fresh new stuff, C'da Metals on Broadway has some good stuff in their rems area.
I'd probably go to Pacific for the thick stuff and C'da for the thin.

Carlson sheetmetal if you want nice new materials.
+2 on pacific if you are looking for recycled or slightly used.

ohhhh... i know of a place in Air Way Heights that has several dumpster size bins full of everything... 1/4 plate to 1" plate, you name it.
I can't remember the name at the moment...

sheet tin let me know what gauge and size you want and I can probably get for you at work for cost + a couple bucks.
do you know how heavy 1/4 inch plate is? it'll make your car schlow!

lol, the 1/4 stuff is for frame rail patching and the like so there wont be too much of that in the way of weight. Thanks for the tip T, i'll get dimentions in a day or two for everything and let you know.
Travis, how would you suggest I go about placing the unit in the car? Im thinking just get the rear lined up in the center of the wheel wells and measure to make sure they are in the same spot then start tacking?
Hey Meng, you lead the way and I'll dumpster dive.

I think its called Garco??? i can't remember exaclty. My buddy used to work there and he told me it was ok to go through the dumpsters.
The company builds them big steel structures. The problem for getting most of the stuff is that it's huge ass sheets or massive chucks of steel.
anyway its right off of Hayford on the other side of the highway from the casino, and on the right hand side. I used to go digging through there on a weekend where there is less traffic (there is usually someone working 24/7), no seems to mind if you are out there.

I think the sheets of sheetmetal come in 4x10 sheets, have a 4 foot finger break, 8 foot break, 4 foot shear, and a corner nibbler thingy at the shop,

hah we just picked them up about a year ago. think it was $2500 for all 4 things, oh yea and a roller too.
Could make such neat back-halved camaro's, but alas we just use it for HVAC stuff :-)

Hey T what can you put together for me for two sheets that need to be 4'5" x 27" and 4' x 32". Reccomendations from anyone on what will look best and not scratch up or rust too bad?
Thanks!

What would you think? Just need to cap the spare tire well and block off the trunk from the passengers so nothing too think I would guess.

I'll check what the price would be on a few different sizes tommorow when I'm at the shop.

Checked to see what I can do, depending on the gauge that you want,
18 gauge $100 cut to the sizes you want
20 gauge $85 cut to the sizes you want
22 gauge $75 cut to the sizes you want
20 gauge I can get right away, other sizes would be a couple days.

Hey T, does your tin have a coating on it to prevent rust?

heh no idea, it's not galvenized but I can't recall ever seeing rust on it, I'd probably recomend just painting it black anyways.
