Hey i know a couple of people that run nitrous out at the track and they don't have blow down tubes...is this required. I'm going to be setting up nitrous on my car in the next month and want to know whether or not to install it. If it's not required, i'm not going to, cuz i don't have extra funds. Thanks.

I asked Reid about this last year and he told me they usually don't really care.
You only need a blow down tube in a hatch, if it's in the trunk you are okay. But since you have GTS in your name im guessing you drive a celica meaning you need one.
Just try it and see what they say.

I didnt say they don't care. I said there are ways around having a functional blow down tube. That said, yes it is a requirement to have a blow down tube vented to the outside of the car.

As said before, only needed if its within the drivers compartment per the rules.

haha per whos rules..........to be NHRA or I HRA legal yes. As far as srp is concerned you could hold the bottle in your lap if you want to.

they bitched about it to me once out of tons of trips out there in my red eclipse.....they're normally more worried your battery is tied down :-)

ok...well, i'll probably put it in, since it is a hatch. I kinda hoped that it would leak, so i could just start laughing my ass of while driving. :) jk. thanks guys...it's probably the safest thing to do anyway.

Also if you get pulled over by the police and you don't have one, expect a ticket.

Why would you get a ticket, its a DOT stamped bottle?

Compressed gasses in the passenger compartment. Not sure of the RCW, but when a trooper was looking me over one night, he asked with a very assured voice like he just found something to harrass me for "is that a bottle of compressed gasses in your cab area?!" I told him it was and if he shines his light just right, he can see the blow down tube for it too. :P

Not to sound like a parent, but I am one. :) For your own safety, it is best to abide by what ever rules are imposed.
Not a street car, but here is a shot of my driver compartment installed bottle.

If you look close enough, you can see the blow down tube.
