So i posted up my times on a couple of other forums and ive been getting IM's sayin not to get too excited. that the SRP clock are off and they read faster that what they should. People are sayin that my 12.2 is actualy more like a 12.6-7, Anyone have any input on this subject?

I've always said that I think the SRP clocks are fast. Remember our first night out when I ran 12.6 on street tires how I was saying it "seems too fast"?
I talked with Reid about this and he told me that his car ran consistent times everywhere. But i've still heard a lot about Spokane being a "fast" track. I dunno...

Ive heard that too but Ive seen many stock cars running right where they should. Our TBSS was running 14.6-14.7 which is actually on the slow side and Ive seen alot of GTO's and SRT-8's running high 13's and 14's. Also Ervin's GTO with a 150 shot and just over 500whp is trapping 122mph which is just about right. My 120mph is about right also for a almost maxed stocker.

My experience is they are fast. I've been to Seattle, Walla Walla, and Boise this year so far.

Why doesn't someone take a stop watch and sit in the stands and time it? Then you'll know for sure.

Everyone who has been to spokane who normally races elsewhere has their best et's at srp......!!! I bet its not the clocks but that the track is short.........

Yep back on the old SpokaneSpeed everyone was talking about how it's not a full 1320 feet.

Ah the old debackle of the SRP clocks. I have talked to the manufacture of the system which also makes the program it runs on. He says there is no possible way to change anything in the computer system to correct for sea level or any other factors. The only thing left......track length.

I would guess it is the last light's position. My MPH saturday at SRP was 141 with full street trim (pump gas, radials, etc). My best MPH in Boise with the same setup was 134. That is pretty much impossible. I would guess that the position of the lights are what is wrong. If the distance between the first MPH light and the finish light is shorter, the clocks are going to think you covered that distance that much faster thereby reporting a higher MPH. The 1/8 times & mph are suspect as well. At SRP I get ~112 MPH in the 1/8 while else where I run ~105.
Bottom line, if you plan on racing someone that has told you their times from another track and you think you have em covered by .2-.3, I would wager that you'll loose.

We were 7 mph slow in the 1/8 as well in Walla Walla with the dragster. Also 3 thenths. Its a sad truth.
I do belive that the distance between the photo cells at the end of the track (and 1/8) are supposed to be 60 feet apart. That would be alot easier to measure than the whole track. But I suppose the whole thing would have to be measured to be sure. This could very well be the problem since Moe did move the track 26 feet foward once, and then after the new surface was layed it was moved back. A big margin for error there.

I'm bringin my wheel next time and walking the full length. Thats all there is to it. Lets really get this straight. As I have only raced at one other track and the temps/atmosphere was much different at the time, I did run 2 tenths slower in Yakima, consistently.

That will be awesome. I have wanted to do that myself, and I actually was gonna buy one of those wheel doohickeys until I seen the $75 price tag. Glad someone will actually do it. Cant wait for the results.

Thats awsome Jamie, make sure to measure light to light also. The right side on Friday seemed to be ok but the left side was weird. On one slip I got a 97mph 1/8th, normal is 94mph and 115mph trap, 119mph is normal.

If someone could get things setup for a friday night when my pos is actually running, I could bring my survey equipment and take one shot and tell ecactly how long the track is. The downside to this is that when I tear something up that night Im gonna need some help getting it home lol.

This would never work. First if we are talking about a couple of tens, the person with the stopwatch will never get a .0000 reaction time or have the same reaction time as the driver of the car. Next, you would have to be really fast to run down to the end of the track to stop the stop watch at the exact same time the car crossed the line.

They are different for me too, especially the reaction times. A few weeks ago the 1/8th ET was nearly a full second off between lanes.

No sweat. Not like I have a car to race while I'm there:)
