I found a place that has a/c service for $40 and then the freon is $33 a pound. Assuming my car would use 1 1/2 pounds of freon, do you guys think this is a good deal that I shouldn't pass up on?

What year is your car? I thought it was new enough to be using R134A. If it is, they are screwing you on the price per pound. R134a is only ~$6 per pound.

Oh, yea they didn't even ask what kind of car I had lol now that I think of it. The other stupid places never asked either, they just assumed.
My Mustang is a '94

You should probably call the dealer and ask. Your's probably takes R134a, but, per EPA's website "By the end of 1994, virtually all new cars, trucks and vans were equipped with HFC-134a air conditioning systems." So, yours could still be R12 which would be much higher priced then the R134a (and probably higher then the $33 per pound they quoted you).

$33 a LB ? WOW, that's A LOT! I only charge $13. But, back to the "LAW". If they "service" it and find that it has a leak they are not suppose to charge it without fixing it. So, you should plan on that as well.
