Just thought i'd put the word out that i have gone out and started my own Hot Rod shop! Im currently working out of the Tims Hot Rods shop located on Barker Rd. right by the Spokane river.
My folks moved to Davenport recently and since the shop was empty i decided to occupy it at least till spring. I worked for my folks here for 15 years building street rods and will be offering most of the same services as before.
Although street rods was the main focus of the shop before, my personal interest lies in building stuff more performance oriented such as muscle cars, rollcage installations, building cool turbo stuff and chasiss work. Of course i will continue to work on previous customers street rods as well!
As before my services will include

Aftermarket independent front end installations

Bending up stainless brake lines

Fabricating aluminum fan shrouds

TIG and MIG welding

Narrowing rearend housings

Setting up rear end gears and posi's

Rollbar/rollcage installations

Sheetmetal fabrication

Rust repair

Chopping tops and basically anything metal related

Mandrel bent exhaust systems

wiring

Basic mechanical work such as R@R engines /transmissions

If you have a job you need done, gimme a call at 509-999-4344 Thanks!

Best to you and your shop!! Important questions: Do you have an operating coffeepot? Do you provide and on what days do you have donuts? What brand of donuts? Are lounge chairs and current magazines provided for "customers"? Senior discounts? "No payments 'til '09 and low low interest rates"? "Overnight procurement" of those "hard to get" parts? Do you really specialize in and prefer Mopar work? Good luck, Marty!!

Good luck with it Marty! Will definately keep taking the TA to you in the future. Should drop off my GTP to you also so that way you can do a better tune than my half-assed one! :)

Hell yeah dude. To answer some questions, no dyno as im sure the neighbors would violently protest around here, sorry Terry, no coffee pot. I live off of Monster energy drinks! And i will have donuts as soon as you bring me some : ) My business hours will be the good ol' 8 to 5 once im done running around chasing shop supplies and actually get some work done!
Shelleys still has full use of my HP Tuners program so its business as usual for them tuning on the late model stuff.
Obviously dyno tuning is the best way to tune but SOMTA, if you do wanna do a little street tuning to hammer out the basics, i can borrow it back to play with the GTP. Besides i still owe you a bit of tuning for that firebird nose i got from you!

Nah it's all good! :)

I am planning on picking up a HPtuner and getting rid of the one I have, I was on the fence with it before but after watching the datalogging and how fast you can move through it, I am pretty much sold. Just have to wait to see how funds pan out with school and all that.

Hit me up if there is any sort of air fittings or tubing you are needing, I can cut you a big deal on the stuff working with it and all if you are going the way of running air around the shop if it isn't already there.

Best of luck to you!

I have a bender to do rollcage tubing so if you need something custom bent i can handle it. If its a fairly straightforward install its easier to buy a kit first and then adjust any of the bends for the best fit.

Do you think you could straighten out or if needed install a new core support? If so how much for either route? Hghly interested.

Thanks

Thanks

this is more of a bodywork than mechanical. If frame is bent you might need to put the car on the frame rack.

ThanksSorry for the slow reply. My computer got the worst case of spyware loaded on it thanks to my kid downloading a bogus limewire update. Took me 4 days to fix it! What kind of car do you have? Metalworking and welding is one of my specialties but like Silver R/T said, if its bent really bad it may need to be put on a frame rack.
Here are some pix of some stuff im currently working on! The 50 Merc is getting a new frame made by a guy named Mercury Charlie in Texas with a kicked up rear frame section so it can be a real taildragger. In order to do that, the ENTIRE rear floorpan had to get cut out and a new one made.
Its also getting a 2007 6 liter LS motor and auto transmission installed.
The 69 Camaro is getting a stock dash re-installed and some of the rollcage removed in order to make a more streetable car out of it.
The last pix is my buddy Devins RatRod 36 Ford getting the flathead overhauled and loaded with vintage speed parts along with a steering box rebuild and a new driveshaft since the old one broke in half! Its one of those weird enclosed drivelines inside the torque tube.

Them torque tubes are the weakest link...I'm assuming "new" driveshaft is modern conversion?

I love hotrodded flatheads...nostalgic

Actually the axle keys usually shear before the driveshaft breaks. The shaft broke where it couples to the pinion gear in back. The shaft was also WELDED together in the middle! Surprisingly it didnt break there. Its getting a new shaft and keeping the torque tube and possibly getting a tranny upgrade to a 39 box that has wider shift forks and a 37 steering box since the old one was so wasted you couldnt steer the car.
Gotta love old weird cool stuff! The owner has a Thickstun dual carb manifold that runs stromberg 97's with Hellings air cleaners and edelbrock heads along with fenton cast iron headers to dress up the 24 stud 239 cube flatmotor. Righteous!

I remember my dad telling me thats where his always broke...like every other week :(

...so only two strombergs huh...that'll be cool to see...

so what...160hp all said and done?

and IIRC all 239 motors were 24 stud.....cause otherwise there was 21 stud i think 221ci

Now we think it might actually be a 221 because for a few years they did make the 221 in a 24 stud that still had the weird full floating rod bearings. I forgot to measure the bore before we sent it off to get rebuilt.Early 221's had POURED babbit bearings. YUK! Its definitely a 59A and we think its a 38 block. Since i doubt its a Merc motor it is probably a 221. It already had johnson adj. tappets installed and will probably get the Isky 400 Jr cam so yeah, 160 screamin horses! LOL

i believe that could be either 221 or 239...couple years either or depending on car/truck...I'm not really that knowledgeable, just a little here and there..always had a nostalgic fetish for them. I'll sit and stare at an offy headed GMC blown flathead for a long time before I move on at a car show or meet, thats where it all began!

I've heard rumored that there are new "redesigned" flathead blocks available with 4 bolt main caps...that oughta make up for only having 3 mains lmao

I'm not so wild about the french blocks...pride maybe? i dunno

Kinda sad...most kids my generation have no clue what so ever and really could care less :(

Its definitely a whole different hot rod attitude dealing with vintage speed. Motor city speed equipment is gonna release an all new aluminum 300 plus ci. flathead!

I have a 99 Civic si, I dont think that it is bent really that bad, the hood isn't lining up correctly but it's not horrible, it's just enough to make me crazy lol... (i'm a perfectionist)... I'm pretty sure its just the core support, not the actual "frame", althoght i'm sure the core support is apart of that lol. Would you be available on any of the upcoming weekend to take a look at it for me and tell me what i'm getting myself into? Or wether you think I need to replace it completely or if it's fixable?

Thanks again!

Thought id show some update pix of some of the junk im working on around here to give y'all an idea of what it is i do! The Olds Fiesta wagon got a complete Air ride suspension and new billet rims to give it a new look. The merc is getting a new frame along with an LS 6 liter motor and trans and the Camaro is basically an E-bay score that was a rolling shell to start with.
It now has a 496 big block with a blower shop billet huffer and is getting somewhat close to being a driver once again. I still have to plumb the fuel system and do the underhood wiring before it hits the streets dressed in gray primer for now.
I also managed to find time to ditch the million mile wonder motor in my firebird with an all new 383 packing some pretty good internals along with a tubular k-member and subframe connectors. I should have some dyno numbers soon but first it needs a bigger fogger nozzle plumbed in to go higher than the 90 hp max of the old school fogger 2 it has now. Heh heh : )

Yeah... Hes the local DVG Schutzhund President (dog protection sport), and I went to check out his club since I was interested in joining, and we sat around for a good hour chattin about dogs, hotrods, and turbo setups... and your name (and your car) happen to pop up in the conversation... Thought i'd post a pix of the 69 Camaro i was working on since i moved back into the old hot rod shop. It turned out pretty cool even though it still needs paint and upholstery work to be complete.
Its one mean SOB to drive and those hard as a rock Sportsman rear tires couldnt hold 300 hp let alone whatever the hell that big block and blower makes! LOL

Speaking of power... did you guys hear about the nitromethane shortage? Flat running out because China is not making it anymore b/c of the olympics. It was every other word out of the announcer's mouths at the NHRA race, on TV. They weren't sure about finishing the race. $10 a gallon, 20 gallons per run.... ?!?!
