since it will be sold in april, we all should drive out to the track with our cars or trailer and let them know we want our track! almost like a protest. maybe that will get sombodys attention that we need to keep it going? what do you think?

I don't know of anybody that'll drive/tow their cars out to the track (formally known as "Moe Town") with 12" of fresh snow on the ground. The way it's goin, we'll still have this stuff in April. But hey, keep us posted and let us know how that works out for ya.

I can get pretty much all of the local BMW scene out there along with many other Euro's to help support.. BMWCCA does like 3-5 events there a year not to mention stuff that Scott Adare does so losing the track would be a BIG loss for Spokane.

so how does stiring up shit and getting a possible buyers "attention" help out? If somebody comes to bid on the property they are already interested. The multi-millionares dont need your input with an attitude. "If" the track survives it will be lucky. maybe part of it will.

Agreed. It won't do anyone any good to show up out there and make a scene.
We have voiced our opinions and those that care have heard us. The best thing to do now is sit back and hope that something good will come from all of this.

It figures all would think the worst. But there are positive ways to get a message sent to people ( possible buyers)." The multi-millionares dont need your input with an attitude. " And who said anything about attitude? talk about attitude sounds like you have one....Shit.. fuck it I hope the track closes for good then!

I don't see how going out there makes a difference.
It's going to be sold...period.
Somebody is going to buy it and going out there to "protest" won't make somebody want to buy it any more than they would without "protesting"
VWLover
01-28-2008, 02:11 PM
Who said anything about protesting??? The public needs to show the possible buyers there is a market and need for a track not only for safety of the streets but that there is money to be made from it and all the other aspect of racing the circle track, the people into autocross, people who race the road course...and so on. The "racers" need to show they want someone to buy it and use it for what it's for and idea's for the other land that can draw people in to use it more. Possible some uses for it in the winter too! There are tons of people with snowmobiles... And all this can be done with out protesting and no attitude.. What if a crowd was waiting for the people happy to see them and welcoming them here in the hopes of reaching them with our idea's and the want and need to keep the track going. but ya it's probly a bad idea....

Going out on the day of the auction for a "showing" is not going to change the intentions of any buyers the day of.
Is this how you all think it will play out?...
Rich guy - wow, look at these couple dozen racers that are out here. Maybe I should think about going another million or two higher if the bidding gets crazy.
These people have money for a reason. Their research will be done by auction day.

Well...the thread was started as a suggestion of "almost like a protest"
....bad wordage :p
I can understand the idea of showing potential buyers that there are people to support a bidder who has best intentions for the track.....but like it's been said by the day of the auction potential bidders will have done the research and will know who what when where of the track and it's "customers"
...if I keep using quotation marks i'll start doing the finger thing like Dr. Evil...

the OPs intent Im sure was a well meaning idea. It would be nice to know and contact the possible buyers. to let them know of our support. Im sure there are some that have crunched the "numbers" to decide if its worth running as a race track. some of the land will be bought by the tribe for there use. no doubt in my mind. but its not worth building more condos on all 600+ acres. If the track survives, I hope the support is for all nites, not just friday cheap nite. to vwlover and steelhorse, I know your heart is in the right place. thanks for that.

Well maybe somone could organize a cruise around spokane to show the support for the local track, and end out there at the track, with signs on cars saying support the track to keep racing off the roads idk. It just seems like all anyone wants to do is show that they would like the track to stay and to get people with more money to support it to keep them safe aswell. Its all about having fun and staying safe. So i figured a safe little drive around spokane would not only be fun with a bunch of cars but to show you care about keeping racing off the streets is a nice little addition. Idk just an idea.

well.. all i have to say is watch out for racing on the roads if the track doesnt open. The city will like the money they make on the tickets though, maybe even adapt the car crushing from wherever they do that. All i'm saying is what everyone else said.. people on here might have the disiplin to drive somewhere else, but think about the kids who dont really care, there just going to go out on the best road they find and go. AKA. dangerous times this summer.

punk kids do that with a track... but i get what your saying
1990secretgsx
02-06-2008, 09:18 PM
exactly, at the track theres no chance (unless he crashes and flys up into the stands or something) that he will hurt anyone but himself, or the person next to him. On the road theres always kids racing around, but now even the kids who went to the track will be on the street doing it. With everyone else's family, friends, etc. on the road, I'm definatly staying inside on friday nights this summer. (probably going to be a ton of accidents and a ton of cops looking for anything that looks like somone would race it)

On a positive note.. While doing some video work for Chris Davis and his "Nitro Pimp" Nostalgia Nitro FC I see we are scheduled to hold an event again this year..
August 1st - 2nd Nitro Extravaganza
Spokane Raceway - Spokane, Washington
Event, Field, and Purse Unconfirmed
Apparently the first Extravaganza was in '06 & last year wasn't considered Extravaganza.. It is the '08 schedule on the website..
See for yourself

Hopefully I get his promo DVD done in the next couple weeks..

from filming for the Nitro Floppers in the past as I understand the track pays those guys to race here.. The NFCA just organizes the gig..
If you've read the JP KING website you see that they are promoting it as the Northwest's Premiere racing facility, having the 2.5 mile road course, dragstrip, circle track, ext..

True. Atleast they are marketing it as a racetrack that is operatable, instead of land with a track on it that can easily torn down. I figure people will take their own view on the property as usual though. Even though it has a track on it most will just want the land. The turnaround would probably be more for a hotel built on it. Unless they go back to the old way of running it and having it EVERY weekend, aswell as on saturday AND sunday.

There was a drag strip out in Deer Park years ago. As far as I know, the air strip is still there. Other than that, I think someone was pullin you chain about there being a track out there.

there is NO dragstrip in deer park. usetabe. my car club "the dragins" has put on a car show the last 3yrs in deer park. its become a fairly popular show for pre-80s cars. very little remains of the air strip that was used. we do not go out there because of security issues. the spokane track has NO events scheduled for 2008. any dates posted were done assuming the track would run. barry did not make a schedule out so any new buyer would not be under an obligation.

Check the link I previously posted for NFCA website schedule, its on there.. Between BC & Boise..
Airway Heights gets clowned on by people (Jay Leno's show just before he cancelled his stand-up here) and even gets a bad rap because of the Jim West thing.. Its not so much known for tourism (gambling only) so I can see it going either way.. Searching for the area online nobody has promoted any of the land as a great place to expand the casino, build a gold course or anything of that nature.. There isnt such a huge market for that here, since it already can support multiple race venues it is almost 100% promoted as a race facility.. My opinion is even if they build something out there that costs a fortune to build our area doesnt have the population or money to support it for long.. People go broke gambling.. What alot of people are looking at is what is already standing out there and how much it could make without much money to get it going..
