Well, I'm done racing the evo. So here is my next project. The car should be around 600whp. Are there any locals that can restall the stock torque converter and also build a strong tranny?

Im a little scared of what youre gonna do with this thing if you put anywhere near as much money into this as you put into the Ebo. This should be fun to watch... :)

It not boosted? Thought if it was a GSX it called out for AWD + Turbo + five speed.

I do hear this guy by the name of John Shepard builds some kick ass trannies for those cars. :D

I dont think anyone local can build a hefty auto tranny (although i could be wrong). But look into Level 10. Their an auto tranny shop in CA and they do awesome work with autos.

You should stick a badass 4G63 with a t350 tranny in the little REX what is the difference in wieght over a iron headed SBC? gotta be a couple hundred pounds!!! plus way better motor set back and weight distribution lol any way somethin to talk about......... good luck on project!

I bought the car with a bad tranny for $600. I'm picking up a built 7 bolt short block tomorrow. It won't have anywhere near the money that the evo had in it. So far I have looked into level ten and ipt for a built trans but I would rather stay local if possible.

Eric, I have done the R/R on those at the shop, not very fun but i can. Call this number and talk to Randy, see if he might be interested in doing the trans if you have a list of mods. he has done some imports, but making the power you are know for he might be interested(509)953-1241. Call me or stop by the shop.

Hey Brian, How have you been? I asked Randy about the trans and John about the torque converter. Neither of them are interested in imports. I need to pick up a th400 from Randy in the next couple days so maybe I'll ask him again.

Just to give a little update. The new engine and trans should be installed by april 5th. Here are the specs:

cylinder head- ported, crower springs & retainers, ferrea +1mm valves, crower 288 cams

2.0 block- tomei rods, ross pistons, balanced

auto trans- ipt overhaul kit, translab shift kit, 3,200rpm high stall torque converter

With this engine/trans combo and the help of this turbo, Forced Performance: DSM FP88HTA Ball Bearing Turbocharger (http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FP&Product_Code=NTDSMFP88HTA&Category_Code=DSM-Turbo)
I might win a race or 2.

That'll be sick to see what you can lay down with that turbo and DSMLink. There are plenty of people doing 600ish to the ground but 80 lb/min... wow, should be impressive. That should shut up people who say DSMLink is for 400whp cars and AEM is for anything above. IMO DSMLink V2 will be good to 700 and V3... sky's the limit. I can't wait for the upgrade!

The O2 housing and downpipe is one continous piece with a v-band flange. Yes, it is the FP manifold with a FP3065 turbo. I got a hell of a deal on this turbo (Thanks Russ). So I will run it for the rest of this season then step up to the FP88HTA next year.

Actually, The built trans isn't done yet so were going to find the limit of the stock trans.

trying to figure out with my 1g what I'm going to use. FP doesn't make the dp/O2 combo anymore. they consider it a custom order and quite spendy. The exhaust manifold is great. finding the rest is another story. I'll take that 3065 off your hands next year.

I would just buy a v-band flange and have an exhaust shop make the dp/O2 combo. Its much cheaper than buying FP's 3" O2 housing for $425.

nice. thanks. I'll have to see whats out there for parts.

Did some looking around and since I do have a Tial 38mm already, and a non-v-band setup, punishment racing has a recirculating 02/dp with external wg flange for $215. Not too bad. Then if I get a v-band turbo next hear I can just modify that to work with it like your 3065.

You need to come up with your own idea for paddles(for now anyways). Since I removed cruise control from the car, I'm going to use those controls for the shifting. The box itself has an output like a headphone jack so the wiring shouldn't be to bad.
It's almost there. I'm still waiting on the built trans so the stocker will have to do for now.

Mine is a 2g. Are you using a restalled converter? How much boost can you build at the line?

AWD_Launch
07-02-2008, 12:55 PM
It has:
IPT trans
IPT torque converter
IPT manual shift controller / push button trans that kicks ass

Never really played with the launch yet, just got it done and the car wants to lose spark somewhere so it is parked till I figure that out. But not losing any boost between shifts and having crazy fast shifts is fun. Not very streetable, well it is but more fun just to punch it and go in a straight line. I also have a 2.4L so it builds boost fast, I believe full boost (27PSI) around 4K in third. I'm hoping for low 11's whem the track finally opens on pump gas and meth

talntid
07-02-2008, 01:12 PM
damn, nice.

AWD_Launch
07-02-2008, 01:38 PM
It did go 520AWHP on a dyno jet as a manual and at 31PSI but the single walbro was running out up top and that was with a 12.2 A/F ratio. I think once I get the spark thing fugured out I might get the balls and install another fuel pump so I can turn the boost up more and see what the 3065 can really do. I would love to run 33-35PSI and have enough fuel for it. But its a DSM so it probably will never even leave the garage.
