What is the diff between a 96 honda accord F22b1head and a prelude h22a1 head? Any better heads for a swap?

To be honest I dont have much experience with the f22/h22 engines. I tried to avoid them as much as possible.

the F head is a SOHC, and the H is a DOHC VTEC

Right so do they interchange? If I remember right, the b16 SOHC and DOHC heads swap so will the F and H swap?

Paul with the the Prelude is running an H22 head on an F22 block. I dont know what type of work it takes to make this happen but apparently its fast. Prolly high 11's low 12's.

I could be wrong but B and D family heads don't swap. Why not put a h22 head on a h23 block and call it a day??

Krypto I think there is 1 case ever where there was like a DOHC D series that they had in some POS car in Japan that supposedly you could bolt a B-series head onto. I'm not really sure.

But for the most part NO is a good answer :)

H22 on H23 FTW

the idea is to keep the stout f22 bottom end and get a head on it that actually has parts avalible. Less money and hassle than a whole engine swap.

ding ding... we have a winner! Now if we could just get an answer to the original question, that would rock... Thanks Beau for keeping this updated!

Hey my name is cody and I dont have a whole lot of time right now but as far as paul goes with the f22/h22 head prelude, he just got married and is moving. I was there for some of the work done to the car and to just touch on a few things about the combo. first you have to remove the balence shafts which is not fun. plug the oil supply holes, mod the oil pump ect. We had many problems with the bottom end with his setup, the oil pump was a big problem, we had to special order one. anyway sorry I know this is'nt the anwer but just wanted to add. I will try to find some time to help you out on the problem.

but the head does bolt on with small mods
