Your car can't be that bad. Is yours an sti? What kind of times are you running?

There is something wrong with it. I keep hitting fuel cut at 6000 rpm, redline is at at 7. I don't know what's wrong but it always seems to be something. I need some engine management so I can tune some of the quirks out. We'll see.

HAHA...yeah, I had been talking with them about the dyno dynamics dynos, but if I end up with one it will be a Superflow. My wife and I have been interested in some commercial property in the Spokane area, but that and a solid business plan are as far as we have gotten for now.

I love my every day tires on the street but they simply don't cut it for even mild racing. I ended up just leaving the line like I was coming off of a stop light then spinning through the top of first and bottom of second. Ah well, got lots of logs to play with and started upping the boost. I'm up to 20psi now but have a few werid spots to iron before movin back to 24. That's for watching the laptop for me Scott, that made things so much faster.

Good luck! I meet all these people who ramanticize about opening up a "racing shop" one day, but i'm still waiting for someone to give us an INTEC or something of the like- a full facility if you will. It'd be cool if someone stepped up, not that it would really matter for me anyway cause i'll be getting the "F" out of Spokane as soon as i'm done with college.

Well, thats the plan...and the problem.??I wont start a half ass shop, which brings a major financial hurdle into the mix.??The dyno is a $100K+ piece of equipment by itself so...

Im still not sure if anything will ever materialize, but a true "race shop" is something I will continue to investigate.

The Cometic wont seal properly without a R-30 finish on both the deck and head.. Hey thanks. This "plan" i had of mine has taken some time to finally come together. I think there was a couple of times last year that i was ready to roll my car off a cliff.

It has taken some time and dialing in to really get used to driving the car b/c it makes most of its power 5000 to its 7400 rpm redline. Miss shift or bogg and its hard to recover.

I actually run the BFG DR (205/50/15), i'm really really surprissed at how well these little things hook up.

As soon as i pick up some larger injectors i want to turn up the boost to some rediculous amount and see what happens.

It is amazing how well the BFG DR's hook up. I just started using them on my evo. Now I have a hard time launching the car. I either bog off the line or the exedy twin disc gets to hot and slips down the 1/4.

08-27-2006, 05:46 AM
So Scott and I are still alive - turned out it was not the head gasket, but rather the turbo. It is grenaded! The hot side slammed against the o2 sensor is the best way to describe it - It is screwed! The nut came off the front of the compressor wheel - the shaft is nowhere to be found. Well, this is better news than a head gasket, and the car should be running today - We are waiting on some parts stores to open so that we can get some gaskets to put it all together. The wait time isn't bad though because now everything is ported hehe.

rrussell
08-27-2006, 07:59 AM

08-27-2006, 03:31 PM
Yeah we found the nut and installed my 14b from my 1g... just scared to really test it out at all, y'know? We have litterally spent 24 hours from when this happened to now to fix this car - we pulled an all-nighter porting out the turbo and all and waiting for parts stores to open for gaskets. Car is running now and we drove it a while no problems - putting the bumper back on and the headlight and we will take it for another spin.

98spydert
08-27-2006, 03:54 PM
Damn, you guys should have called me back, I have all the turbo gaskets sitting around. Glad you get it back together, give me a call if we're tuning this week.

talntid
08-27-2006, 06:57 PM
Lee, we'll see - I think that Scott is going to take it quite easy - can't afford to do this twice in a month. I think this is just going to be a "getaround" turbo for now. The GSX likely will not be making any more appearances at the track for a while :(

Anyhow, it runs now - doesn't smoke anymore. We seafoamed it and all to clean it up. Car is running very rich on the zero'd out tune... Scott needs to lean out a bit.

08-27-2006, 07:56 PM

If it does, it will be on the spectator side of the track...??If I could afford an all out Garrett turbo setup right now I would be overly excited.??That not being the case I'm thinking quite seriously just buying an Evo316g and calling it a year...??I cant afford this car much longer... Thank god it's payed off in feburary..??I need a car that is reliable, not somthing thats going to puke 3 quarts of oil into the intercooler & exhasut for the enjoyment of watching the reaction on my face!!
