The car is finally coming together. I had it running back in March, but after some time on the dyno and a stupid oversight in the ignition timing department, I realized that there was a reason I pushed to get some testing in early this year.

I got the car back home and modified the turbo manifold to rotate the turbo forward about 30 degrees. This is going to provide much better oil drainage than I had before. On the dyno I also had boost spike issues which I believe were due to the undersized 46mm wastegate. So I added a 60mm gate and 2.5in pipe off the header. I also have a manual boost controller wired in to help. The battery relocation and conversion back to a 12V system is almost complete. I eliminated the old water pump/breather box unit and that freed up space for a factory Honda alternator behind the radiator. All that is left is wiring the alternator to the battery.

All the gauges are now working correctly and I have the new intercooler piping and down pipe finished. I also found a better radiator that already has a pressure relief cap on it for the overflow system.

The turbo inducer diameter measure 74.65mm with a class max allowed of 75.5 so I am safe on the turbo deal. Parachute is mounted and works like a charm. I may still modify the release lever to have a little more throw, just in case it gets bound up.

The nitrous lines had to be modified a little bit due to throttle return spring clearance, but they should be pretty simple. I ordered the jets today; 4 @ 0.016 and 4 @ 0.029 which should net me about a 130hp shot.

I found a kick ass deal on an SFI 3.2A/5 firesuit and SFI 16.1 5 point harness; they should be here next week.

Things left to do are replace my oil pressure sending unit, weld in my window net, Tuning and get my licensing done. It looks like both Yakima (Renegade Raceway) and Walla Walla (Bonanza Raceway) are closed most or all of July. The means I am going to have to find someplace local to get some testing done (anyone have a REALLY long drivewary? lol).

So far; the planned schedule if everything stays together is:

Battle of the Imports, Pacific Raceways; Seattle, WA, Aug 22-23

Battle of the Imports, Woodburn Dragstrip; Woodburn, OR, September 27-28

Halloween Classic, Firebird Raceway; Boise, ID, Sometime in October

Pics and updates to follow.

Sounds like everything is coming together nicely. You could always take the car to royal city for race wars on july 12th.

I went to that last year, and it was very awkward. Talk about being the minority. It was like 15 mexicans to 1 caucasion. The "track" wasnt anything to be excited about. Only reason i went was to watch some of the cars Reid Lundy at KaizenSpeed built. It was ok, but for serious tuning or racing i wouldnt use that as the spot.

What are you worried about? The cracker:beaner ratio was too low for you? I there a cut off beyond which you will not attend?

OMFG WTF like holy shit... what in the hellzzzz is dis sh!t called diversity?!?! Take a vacation outside of this shitbox town... there's lots to see in this world aside from what "color" or "race" somebody is or what language they choose to speak;) As for central washington racing, there isn't much of anything for drag tracks, especially in north central washington, they take what they can get, I know cuz I grew up in that area. Back on topic, you should throw up some pics just for the hell of it and keep up the good work!

Look in the IMS Power section for "IMS Civic Vid" thread. It has a link to the dyno video.

I cant find my camera USB cord so new pics will be a few more days.

Well...I have been fighting the gremlins all year long with the car and at one point actually gave up on the season and pulled the engine.

A week ago I decided to try and get everything together and make one of the last races. Saturday 9/13 after working the lanes at the street races I came home (1am) and put the engine in the car (until 5am). Today I went back to the dyno.

Again, gremlins all day. We had a coil pack fail so the car wouldnt rev, loaded or free. I replaced the coil packs and she free rev'd beautifully, but we had some other issues which were finally solved with the engine management.

So after spending the entire day at the dyno we finally got a couple of clean passes before I had to call it a day. We left with 438 hp and 315 lb-ft torque at 20 psi with air/fuel ratios still in the high 10 range.

I am kind of glad we stopped because it will give me chance to tune some suspension and learn how to drive the car again. If I can get the remaining safety issues taken car of I should be at the track bright and early Saturday morning to make some passes. :)

Don't get too excited. I dont think this weekend is going to anything spectacular. I am just hoping to get a time slip...even if its a 17.40.

If the car moves 1320 feet under its own power I will be happy.

Today went good and bad...but the bad wins.

On the return road after my safety pass I heard a bang and the car died. I got a tow back to the pits and then found out that my exhaust cam wasnt turning with the rest of the engine...oops. I sheard the keyway of the exhaust cam ending my day early.

On a positive note. I made a safety pass with no burnout, no launch, and slow shifted. I hit the limiter in 4th gear at the 1000 foot mark and decided not to shift to 5th so I put it in neutral and coasted through the lights...I was pretty happy when I got my slip...

1.8 60ft
6.99 1/8 ET
11.08 1/4 ET
121 1/4 MPH

According to the gear ratios and tire size on the car when I hit the 4th gear limiter I was doing 137 mph...not to shappy for a safety pass.

Nice! Thanks...those are the first pictures of that car at a track in 4 years (sheds tear).

I cant wait until next season. I started to loose my motivation, but after that race (even just 1 pass) I got it back. Time to fix a few things and prepare for a better season next year.

Thanks to the following people. I couldnt have done it without you:

My wife for being so understanding

At some point, but not this year. Ill be running the 5speed out of the accord. The gearing should be much better.
