water pump problem

my 87 mazda b 2000 is havin a water leak from the water pump area. i have replaced the gasket and it still leaks from the pump area. is this a normal problem on this engine////

you replaced gasket but didnt replace water pump itself? On my mazda (and pretty much every other mazda same model) water pump starts leaking as a sign that it needs to be replaced. I had timing belt changed at the same time also.
