As of today got 357 at 12psi

So finaly got on the dyno today. Thanks to Cody at HPI and Kirk at PTR for the short notice dyno time.

So we showed up nice and prepped and ready for some tuggin. First things first, a fresh set of plugs (NGK BKR7E gapped at .028). First pull went 284hp with no vtec. So we pulled a second one and went 291 and started smokin a little. So the third one started to break up a little at boost onset and went 274. So by now we know were goin backwards. Another tug and got 271. FUCK!!! So start lookin around and cant find anything obivous. Checking the logs on Crome i did the 291 at 8.4psi and the charge temp were down in the 110 degree range. Another quick pull and its breaking up real bad at about 6k. check plugs and the look pretty dammed good. Check the cap and rotor, nothing bad. Compression test shows 225 across the board. Another pull after cooling and cleaning the cap and breaking up real bad at 6k still. So what changed, the plugs.... So i decide to throw the old plugs back in. Another tug and the car felt 10000 times better and did a slight traction loss in third gear.....hmmm.....good news. Roll into a 4th gear pull and hit 12.0psi and hit 333.6hp with sky high charge temps. Not bad for a stock block/head ls/vtec with head studs and a Holset turbo. Goes back tomorrow with 2-3 more psi of boost and cooler temps and i think i can get 370 out of her at around 14-15 psi. And i got my hand on some 22" slicks so we shall see what saturday produces.

Thank you again Reid for all your hard work.

awesome numbers steve!! did u try regapping those BK's to like 20 thousands? i;ve heard of guys go as low as 16 thousands to fix the spark blowing out issue...anyways are ur "old" plugs BKr7e's also?

yeah the car feels great, we made a few tugs and made some decent numbers. i think i made 5 pulls in it today and each one was feeling strong. I pulled plugs after the first pull and everything looked awesome. after the first two pulls the car got a little heat soaked so we decided to throw a bag of ice on the intake. I compared logs from all the pulls and with the first iat (intake air temp) at 120 degrees (no ice) and then the pulls after the ice. with ice it ran below 90 degrees. most pulls were done in 3rd, including the 357 run, i could feel the tires wanting to spin just a little. i tried 4th and it could have been heat soaked but it did less power. the tune looks great considering it was all street tuned. needs a little fuel in one spot but nothing to worry about. the car is absolutely insane for what it is. NICE JOB STEVE!!!

was this with the benson block in there? So are you going to build it more and go for more boost or just keep it a "street" car?

stock LS/vtec. Not the benson block.

Iridium BKR8E's and a new cap and rotor fixed my spark blowing out problem.

ya with the old plugs back in it its been good. Right now its all stock block stuff. When the benson goes in and the borg warner turbo is ordered this winter its pretty much gonna lose the streetability. It will be street legal but not practical for constant use.
