I would ask that everyone please stay off the road course as much as possible, and on the return road, please do not use it as a place to practice/monkey around.
I was part of a group that rented the track on Monday, during our drive around I noticed that there was a couple of burn out marks around the turn around area, I also found oil and fuel on the ground as well through a turn were nobody should should have been at all. (it took me over an hour to clean up those areas)
Why do I care? I race motorcycles out there as well as drag race. For us, and the car guys, oil and such is just plain bad and takes a lot of time for us to get it off the track so it's safe again.
I know there's a lot of "us and them" I've heard it during the drivers meeting a week ago. "BUT" We need to get along and SHARE the facility, we try and take care of your drag strip, (not a lot we can do to it) we only ask that everyone does the same for the other users.
Again, not bashing anyone, just asking for some help. It's probably only one or two people that are doing it, but it makes an impact.
Regards,
Jim

I agree...drag cars shouldnt be on any part of the road course and if you make a mess clean it up and tell someone so that cleanup can be proper.
There shouldn't be any "issues" between "roadracers" and "drag racers"

i think for the street racing thing, maybe we should hold a "newbie" drivers meeting and at least tell these people how to stage and avoid the water etc etc.

Well...at least for the coming seasons, whoever runs the place should put together at least a first time guideline on paper for newbies to the track.
What scares me about this...how many of these guys are paying attention to the guy in the other lane when they turn into the turn off road??

Some aren't the brightest... more than once a bike or car was lined up at the lights and the person behind them would try to get their burnout going and the guys at the lights would start jumping all around telling them to stop.
Anyone know how many cars typically have been racing? If someone could get me a flyer or something I could make a few (hundred) copies to be handed out to cars that are racing so we don't have people lining up in the wrong lanes, causing issues, driving cars down the track with leaks etc.
Didn't know that the part of the road that keeps going is part of the road course. I know I took it once last year when I couldn't see the turn off road and thought I was going to end up back in the middle of no where. :D It was probably the lightning that ruined it for us at the end of the night that left his trail all the way down there.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen people blow by it as well. Maybe a big neon sign saying Drag racers this way, would help.
Anyone remember the Prelude awhile back that went flying around that corner at the drags and went right into the ditch and side of the hill?

uh...we do have a drivers meeting...at 7pm at the front of staging. We cover courtesy staging, lane assignments, return road, pit speed, etc. You will never weed out ALL of the stupid people...thats what evolution is for.

Unfortunately, the majority of the Sat Night participants show up much later than that, which probably accounts for people cutting in front of others and the overall kaos in the staging lanes. (I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt)
A one page flyer to everyone that goes through tech would do it. or have the tech inspectors go over the rules with said people as part of the process?
The oil I had to clean was on the back side of the track, the lightning definately wasn't the culprit on that one.
I do agree about evolution, Turn 2 at speed can definately weed out the idiots. ;-)

You don't have to take the first return road and never have had to. It's really too short of a distance to stop a heavy car that goes very fast. I can make the first road if I'm on the brakes really hard , but my rotors turn blue , and it's much safer to shave off speed more gradually and allow the brakes to cool for second between pulses.

How about some type of cones or those taller things you see in construction zones. I've even seen some that had a slot in the top where you could place a sign - or in this case, a large arrow?????
well from my 2 times going down the track as a passenger, um.. are you talking about the VERY first road like 300 ft or less from the track? because i thought that was if u broke or if u could make it because ur slow enough. so prety much my question is, is there 2 return roads one really short and one medium, and one for jet cars that people shouldnt be using? hah

It's a pretty hard brake from the finish line, to hit that turn off. I can't imagine going 150 with skinnies in front, being able to make that turn.
Course imagining going 150, at the track is all I am probably ever going to do :(

since its a roadcoarse we have the luxery of nearly unlimited slow down area as to other tracks that have a hill and a turn shortly up it before the sand traps..
i dont know about how much further it is down until the turn on the roadcoarse but I remember when I was young a jet car used his chute with the burner still on and he ended up rollin in the weeds just before that turn way down there... jet car no chute would have killed people at other tracks im sure
