Silverwood has been dishing out the thrills for nearly 20 years. In fact, you may have even seen some of the wide-eyed, outta breath, hair-all-messed up people who just got their fill of Tremors – the biggest, fastest roller coaster in the Northwest. To feast on chills, however, you simply walk next door to Boulder Beach, Silverwood’s brand new water park. With 12 acres of cool, wet fun, you’re sure to find the chill you’re looking for.
Thrills at Silverwood come in all shapes and sizes. For huge appetites, three big-time roller coasters, including two world-renowned wooden coasters, are sure to satisfy. Tremors, the granddaddy of ‘em all, is a 60-mile per hour slingshot that drops you 103 screamin’ feet into a pitch black tunnel of terror. Speaking of terror, Timber Terror is Tremors’ slightly smaller but equally twisted cousin, and the aptly named corkscrew will turn your world upside down – not once, but twice.

*DJ RADAR
Bombshelter DJ's/ Premier Artists
Pheonix, AZ
http://www.premiereartistsgroup.com/inc/galleryimages/8/radar-premiereshowcase-wmc.jpg

**-A pioneer in the world of hip-hop music and one-half of the world-renowned dj crew the Bombshelter DJs, which also includes fellow Phoenix native Emile, DJ Radar refuses to adhere to artificial musical boundaries, and is constantly searching for fresh and innovative ways to blur the lines between genres. Radar has traveled all across the globe with tours in North America, Europe and Japan. His unprecedented attempts to combine his classical music background with his turntable skills have solidified his place as one of the great innovators of his generation.

Never content to simply be a run-of-the-mill DJ, Radar always works to take his art to the next level. Looking for a way to realize his lifelong aspiration of combining his musical background with his desire to write music for turntables, Radar joined forces with jazz piano extraordinaire Raul Yanez. Together they produced "Concerto for Turntable," one of the most experimentally imaginative musical compositions in history. This groundbreaking fusion is the first concerto piece that utilizes a single turntable as an actual musical instrument. With a full symphony orchestra in accompaniment, this landmark piece features the turntable as the lead solo instrument. Unlike a typical turntable performance, this piece does not include any prerecorded music. All of the turntables' melodic and rhythmic notes in the concerto are crafted completely live, and the music written around all of the various scratch techniques that can be produced on a turntable. Radar's main motivation for writing the "Concerto for Turntable," he says, is to "demonstrate the difference between a DJ and turntablist." The first movement of the piece premiered in a performance at Grady Gammage Auditorium with the Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra on March 7, 2001, before a crowd of 3,500 people. Also DJ Radar performed at the world premier of Raul Yanez’s Concerto for Turntable at New York's Carnegie Hall on October 2, 2005.

In addition to his pioneering efforts with the "Concerto for Turntable," Radar is the creative force behind "scratch notation". This system, the first of its kind, documents all of the scratching techniques that can be performed on a turntable and translates them into Western musical notation. This set of symbols, called articulations, maps out a DJ's hand position for each note in a musical score. From Radar's work, this notation will help validate the turntable as a legitimate musical instrument.

Radar's impressive list of studio production credits include releasing continuous-mix CDs and vinyl singles on Om Records, Bomb Records, Future Primitive Sound, Matador, Sub Pop and Elite Recordings, among others. Radar released several solo 12-inches as well, and collaborated on remixes with Money Mark and Mario Caldato Jr. of the Beastie Boys.

Radar's skill behind the turntables has earned him numerous accolades in his nine-year career. These include twice being named in the "Next 100" of critically acclaimed electronic music magazine Urb; being named Spin Magazine's "9th Best Turntablist in the World” in 1999; and winning numerous "Best DJ" and "Best of Phoenix" awards from local Arizona media.**Radar strives to avoid stereotypes in his music and upholds a common Bombshelter philosophy by saying; "I don't set any boundaries with my music. I play all genres. Music is universal -- it's just separated by different tempos."

I have extended the pre-reg deadline on the event. The date listed on the website will be changed soon. You can still pre-reg and pay to get the discounted rate. There are a huge # of cars coming this year and I have also made steps to make sure people that arrive day of will still be able to get in. The old aircraft runway is being preped to handle overflow if the grass areas fill. Of course all parking is on a first come first serve so the earlier you come the better.

In addtion I have been notified that the host hotel and campground at Silverwood are full. If you e-mail myself or my staff via the "excelerator" website we will be happy to assist you in finding another hotel or campground for this event.

Thanks and see you all soon!!!!

Another question I have been getting alot that I would like to address regarding guests for the show:

Each car registered gets the driver and 1 guest into the park free.

We are offer a discounted park rate for those with more guests that have registered a car, the rates are as follows.....

Discount rate for general admission is $26.00 including tax
Regular park rate is $34.64 including tax

For 3-7 years of age or 65 and older discount rate is $16.00 including tax

When you come with your car if your guests are arriving later in the day you can pay for them when you check in to get the dicount rate. Their names will me placed at will call for your guests to then pick up at their convenience.

How was it?

Racemyjetta85
07-23-2006, 11:25 AM
I had fun on the coasters and the panic plunge.. the car show was ok, everytime I ventured over to the show the dj's had some techno-ish music going so we didnt look too much.. Alot of cars that had shitloads of time and money into them.. A few cars that where "being showed off" that should have been parked with mine..
Thanks for puttin on a good time Marble.. I have fun everytime I go.. Cant beat riding all those rides for so cheap!

MaRbLe
07-23-2006, 07:44 PM
I am happy you had a good time man:)

Sorry if the techno wasnt your thing. We did have some hip-hop but I stay to techno becuase it is less offensive to families in the park versus rap or other stuff with way more words LOL

After event statment:

The good-

It was another record year for registrations with over 300!!!
I have heard of no issues as far as disrespect in the park, show, people or property again, thank you all for the good vibes!
All the DJ's made it and performed very well.
Sponsors are very happy with the event and the people at it.
There themepark is very happy with the event and people at it. I had one of my reps walking around during the day trying to talk to the attendees and make sure all was good, from what he tells me people seemed pleased with their stay.

The Bad-

There were several errors on the awards sheet on a few catigories when the sheet was first given to the announcers, to my knowledge all issues were taken care of by the end of the awards. However, issues at the awards are unacceptable to me. There WILL NOT be any issues of that nature ever again! I personally apologise for the confusion and the mistakes on the sheet my staff gave me for the announcers.
Other then that...damn it was hot, wish I could have more control on that but I dont LOL

In closing-

I want to perosnally thank everyone that attended this event. This would not be possible with out your support, thank you very much for choosing to attend. I know there are many shows during the year and it does mean alot to all of us when people support "excelerator". Many more things will be coming next year as far as improvments and of course more award catigories are being added.

If anyone that attended has questions or concerns regarding the show please feel free to E-mail my account at:
marble@exceleratorcarshow.com
I will respond ASAP.

Thanks again,
