I would recommend these guys to do transmission work on any car.

Hell yeah I second that they did my 95GT and are very helpful, cheaper than any other place I called. :) Ohhh and quick too!!! Plan on taking the RAM there when I get the funding.

I wish i had good things to say about these guys. about 5 years ago i had a civic tranny that needed to be gone through as per the warranty for the civic i bought. they went through that tranny 4 times and never got it right. every time i got it back it grinded high in the r's and he told me i wasnt shifting right. Wether i was double clutching it or speed shifting it grinded and after the 4th time they wouldnt admit that it wasnt right. i had to get a lawyer involved the 5th time just to get them to get it put back together so i could get rid of the car.
Then just recently my buddy Travis with the 91 TSi had a tranny rebuilt through them. and 2 days after he dot it back and tried driving the car hard, it was grinding. so he lived with it for quite a while. as it got progressivly worse he took it back and they said it was fine. So finaly after his third time at the track on that tranny it finaly blew. all he had was 3rd, 4th, 5th. No 1-2, or reverse. Initialy Rick said they wouldnt warranty it . but Finaly did and turns out it was a bent shift fork. So Travis had to pay for the shift fork but the labor was warrantied and everything else was gone through to check out the grinding issue and he was told everything was perfect. so he got it back and it grinded in every gear at anything over 4k rpm. So rick went with a ride with him and flat out told him his problem was that he shifted too fast for the car. You can take that as you want but ive never met a superman-like person that can outshift a perfect tranny. thats been my experiences with this shop. Sorry so long, just had to put in my 2 cents.

Wow sorry to hear about you and your friends luck with that place. But like I said my experience was good with that shop, and have not had one problem with the mustang. I have put 16K on the tranny in 6MOS. We all have our opinions! :)

I guess maybe it depends on who's working on the car. I dont think they bent shift fork so its not their fault for him abusing car and breaking it.

Undernormal warranties "RACING" your car with your transmission VOIDS all warranties period!!!! If You buy a brand new GTO or Vette and the dealer scans your computer and have some Type of fault that either you put Nitrous on it or were Driving wreckles you are on your own. Not Tryin to point fingers just sayin Most Transmission shops warranty transmissions under normal conditions and not something you take to the race track.

I agree completely with noah. How "stock" were these cars. AWD right? First off you i'm sure noah would be the first to tell you awd cars are harder than shit on trannies. Especially ones that won't even spin there tires much, something has to give. Second everyone has multiple bad stories about them(shop wise).

LOL you can "hotrod" anything to a point. We took my jimmy we just bought there about a month ago. Told the guys we don`t know the story about the tranny but it doesnt shift. They could of taken us to the cleaners. But they didnt. Instead it was some solenoid sp? inside the tranny. Charged us $151 bucks & out the door we went & it runs like a champ!
Again everybody will have their own opinion about where to go & where not to go. But I say Louises ROCKS!

My 1990 civic 4-door was completely stock, it was my commuter car. and Travis' talon does have a couple of things dont to it, but after the tranny rebuild... He wasnt launching it or anything like that. He also was granny shifting just cause he wanted the tranny to last, i mean for the $2100 he spent to have it built he was babying it. it was grinding as soon as he picked it up, sounds like maybe domestic stuff their good, but imports not so good.

I'd be curious to see the reciept for that one! Also not to point fingers Was this Transmission Just a "repair job" or does the reciept say rebuild with full warranty? Most shops will warranty anything you just need to tell them what you do with it so they can put the appropriate parts in the transmission. Telling them you don't race it to get a cheaper deal or to get your transmission fixed again isn't gonna solve anything. Transmission shops will build there customers Transmissions PER there request. So if you go in telling them you don't race a Boosted Talon there not gonna put all the racing parts in there. Granted its gonna cost you more up front but know you have all the parts you need to abuse it. Im just stickin up for transmission shops in general. They aren't in business to rip you off and take your money. Most shops are very understanding of your situation just Don't Try to bullshit them it won't work!

Now i dont know 100% the full story on travis' talon, but it was a full rebuild with a warranty. And as far as transmission shops...My dad is and has been a tranny mechanic for my whole life. And i always worked at his shop during the summers so ive been around tranny shops my whole life. And he now runs the automatics department at Blumenthals Transmissions. One of the biggest Tranny remanufacturing Shops in the U.S. They hold the Patent on the triple lock converters for the high HP and TQ Diesel trucks. Sorry, not tryin to tell my whole family story, Just tryin to prove i know a little about this kind of stuff. But as it goes with any business, your gonna make some people happy and some not so much. These were just my 2 personal experiences with Louies.
Heres the link for blumenthals if anyones interested

By driving hard i meant just pulling 6k or so through the gears a couple of times. Thats not abusing the car and everyone at some point in time or another is gonna beat on their tranny a bit. Like getting stuck in the snow and rocking it out is one of the worst things you can do. And
And because of this thread, The owner called my buddy with the TSi and said he was going to sue him for telling people about his experiences. So if someone on here would like to give the owner of Louies my phone number...Its 208-590-0505. And he can sue me lmao!

ok ok fine everyone has problems with shops, everyone does. But If your dad is a super great tranny guy =] then why didnt you have him rebuild your civic tranny? and since you worked in the tranny shop every summer why didnt you rebuild it?? instead of pay a shop to do it?
Just some simple questions =]

There is always 2 sides to everystory nobody likes to hear people bashin on business especially if the story isn't True and the public doesn't know 100% facts on what happend You gave a single sided story which isn't correct!

Good questions. The car was warrantied from the dealership i bought it from at and it was their choice to use Louies. If i wanted it covered it had to be through them. Also my dad lives in Oklahoma, at the time i didnt have a shop to use to pull the tranny and another car to drive while mine was down, which the dealership did take care of.
And im not by any means trying to say i know everything about the business, but ive been around it more than most. Im seriously not trying to insult anyone by any means. All i wanted to do was put up my experiences with this particular shop and because im apparently the only one who has had bad experiences with them, im being bashed for it. So once again im sorry to anyone who has taken anything ive said offensivly.

Its ok just next time get both sides of the story because spokane is a very small city and most of the shops here rely on word of mouth reputation and if negative feedback is geting spread around it does impact shops more then one way!

Louie's Rocks. he saved me 1,400++ dollars on my wifes 97 jimmy last month..I bought it at the auction and it didnt shift right or at all!! It had a new tranny in it but i figured it was done wrong. But louie fixed the valve body electronics that were not replaced when it was built and sent me on my way for 150 bucks..Now that says alot to a guy like me who does all his own work and was at the mercy of louie...he could have hit me for a full re-build and i would have paid it tooo...thanks again to LOUIE'S TRANSMISSION'S............

had my 727 rebuilt by them. They couldnt find kickdown linkage for it though. Although they're available brand new or could've just put in Lokar custom kickdown linkage in it. I've collected parts though and have to take it back probably next spring so they can install it.

yea Most transmission shops don't have stuff like that. Linkage and misc adapter parts your gonna be stuck going with some type of aftermarket product which isn't bad most of them these days are very reasonable

sounds more like a shift rail than a shift fork....and there's a reason that you can buy upgraded shift rails it's cause the stock ones suck. and the early 1g trannys are garbage anyways.....
