MrmnGrl
09-15-2006, 02:03 PM
true, we would need a place to go- mines out of the question though: 1) dont think my mother would allow it, 2) out of the way- three miles from Idaho!, 3) small small small house!

Any volunteers? Who all would go? - eric and i will go after he gets off at like 10 ish.

I have a pretty serious beef about FNSR on the 15th. My cousin came out here from Vancouver this weekend to hang out and whatever. Well, we ended up going to the track cause he wanted a ride in my car. After a couple times down the track in my car, I convinced him that he should go tech and run in his mini-van. (He's a quadrapelegic from a car accident a few years ago, so he has to have the minivan so that he can get in and out of it in his wheelchair.) Anyways, he went and got teched and got in line behind a riced-out Scion, for kicks. Well, he got to the front and the marshall was giving him a hard time and then wouldn't let him run because he "looked stoned." Well, again he was in a car accident a few years ago, he always looks stoned. But he was definetely not stoned that night. I tried to explain that to the marshall, but the guy was just being a prick about it so we said fuck it and left. I think that was pretty seriously fucked up the way that the guy just blew off my cousin like that.

I saw your cousin's minivan! I was in line right next to him. It was a gold minivan for handicapped people right? That thing was sweet, I wanted to see it run.

Either way Brandon is was nice to meet you that night.

Ya that is messed up! Was it Jeffro? that wouldn't let him race? Shit everyone looks stoned after being out there with all the burnouts and wind.

FNSR
09-19-2006, 07:47 AM
Well it looks like I'm the mother fukin douche bag marshal!

1 it is my duty to make sure that things are ran safely out there when someone appears intoxicated to me I have the responsibility to say wither they run or not! Your cousin was incoherent when I asked him who he was racining he couldn't tell me not to mention I had 2 of my security standing right there they both agreed that I made the right decision!

2 When you came down to talk to me I was not a "prick" I was doing my job I have 20 different things happening at one time down there and as I told you I would be more than happy to let him run if he would be willing to let the officer I had out there do a field sobriety test on him if he passed I would be more than happy to let him run! But if he failed he would be charged with D.W.I.! Now people driving while intoxicated be it on pain pills booze or even cough syrup is something we all take very seriously out there and you all should be glad because it is for your safety that we do this!

If your cousin truly was not intoxicated I apologize however I offered a reasonable solution to the problem and the fact that you decided not to take that option is your mistake! If I am wrong out there I take blame which in your case I would have gladly apologized for my mistake but at this point the only thing I am guilty of is trying to make sure that we all have a safe place to race!

Well I have never known you to be a prick to anyone. So I guess I have to assume that you made the best call you could at the time. It sucks having to be the bad guy!

FNSR
09-19-2006, 08:30 AM
Tell me about it. I work my ass off out there to try and make things better and its always somthing diffrent. There is just no pleasing people anymore! I'll be glad when this season is over!

09-19-2006, 09:17 AM
I wouldn't take your job for nothing. You made your best judgement and I agree with your decision if the driver was unable to answer simple questions coherently. I never race impaired and would never want to race anyone who is. You're right though, you can never please everyone thats for sure.

blampinen
09-19-2006, 12:08 PM
My problem isn't that you tried to keep the track safe. My problem is that you just blew me off. My cousin was not incoherant, or as you told him, "with us." When you asked if he had a race, he wasn't sure what you meant. It was his first time at the track. He was moving to get in line with the Scion, and said you looked like you wanted to say something. So he stopped and looked at you, and you started to go on about needing a race to race. He was trying to figure out what the hell you were talking about. To you and I, having a race makes sense, but he's new to tracks, so he wasn't sure what you meant. You never even gave him the chance to reply. I understand that you are doing your best to make sure that things run smoothly and efficiently, but you need to understand that not everyone that runs at FNSR is experienced. That is the whole point in FNSR, after all, isn't it? To bring people out to the track that otherwise wouldn't come?

I fully understand that you put up with a lot of shit and I wouldn't want your job either. But, even SRP needs professionalism. I'm not mad that you were doing your job and keeping the track safe, I'm mad that you dismissed my cousin and me that simply. Rather than hearing me out and giving me the oppurtunity to explain the situation, you just blew me off like I was a moron. What the fuck kind of training do you have anyways? What medical training do you have to decide if someone is "with it" or not? I'm a fucking EMT, I've taken countless courses and classes on drug abusers and alcoholics. What do you have? Just 'cause someone has bloodshot eyes doesn't mean they are intoxicated.

And did you honestly think I was just gonna go to the cop to get cleared? Come on, that's retarded. I wasn't concerned with his ability to pass a field sobriety test. But how the hell is he even supposed to take a field sobriety test? He's a quadapelegic. He can't walk in a straight line. He can't perform the same motor functions that you and I can perform. What was he supposed to do? Take a breathalyzer? Would that have been acceptable? Even then, that's just demeaning and ignorant. You can defend your position by saying that you made the decision with information available at the time you made it, and I have no problem with that. But I made every attempt to be nice and professional and treat you like an adult, and you blew me off. That's why I'm pissed.

Not to jump in somewhere that I don't belong, but Jeffro take this as constructive criticism.

You do have a SERIOUS problem dealing with people at FNSR. I have had first hand experience and have also witnessed the way you deal with other people. You should trying being a little less abrasive with people.

On the forum it seems that you generally try to be a nice guy and promote FNSR, but everytime I see you at the track you are yelling at someone. I understand that you have a tough "job" calling lanes at FNSR, I did it for 2 years, but things will go alot smoother if you treat people like equals instead of dog shit.

I do have to agree that a person on their first night out is like a deer caught in headlights. I know I was. Shit is confusing as hell and pretty much a free for all on Friday nights. so I do sympathize with you on that. Things do get out of control at times. I've personally been yelled at, and thought that guy was a dick or whatever. I guess it just depends on the situation. I wasn't there so I can't say one way or another but just wanted to share my experiences as well.

Ok I don't yell at people I yell so I can be heard its kind of noisy out there and I do deal with people as equals I don't have all day to chit chat with some one I have to be short and to the point as far as blowing you off I did no such thing I simply went to my next lane I cant shut the track down to deal with 1 problem. I know in the earlier years when I did not get paid to do what I do I was rude and had a power trip but now in the last 4 months I've been paid for my time and asked to help promote the street racing I've cooled my jets and taken a far different approach on things out there and I try to work with people out there but some people don't want to be worked with! This is not one of those cases I had to make a judgment call and I did not have all night to discuss it I offered the only reasonable solution I could think of Sorry to say but if I take 1 persons word out there I have to take every persons word out there and I get lied to more than any person I know I'm sorry you fell like I blew you off and I'm sorry about your cousin but I have a job to do if I stop what I'm doing then everyone is waiting on me and that can't happen because I will have people complain about the wait in line and then the lack of races they get. me and my crew and the management are doing as much as we can to make sure that things run smoothly and safely out there and if I see someone who looks drunk or high I will take the same action again we all live by the rule better safe than sorry and that is the way we will play it every time!

Its been my experience that everyone out there complains about the fact that everything moves so slow and everyone takes forever. So here is a guy that its his job to be as professional and effecient as possible all while being as safe as possible. I used to be the manager at Nascart (or Fastcart as its called now) and in those situations you only have enough time to go with your gut instinct. Now if everyone wants things to move slower than they already do, Then Jeff can stand around and make in depth decisions all night long. If he made a call and gave you an alternative, then i would say he made the right call. When managing Nascart i had to make the split decision call to let somone race or not. And all the people who were intoxicated that were pulled from the race were always the most pissed off ones. So in that situation you have to understand the guy makin that decision has only a moment to think about everyone elses safety. And if there a bit of doubt, You have to go with your gut. And the fact that he gave an alternative that was turned down....Well id consider that to be your bad. Im not trying to start a fight or cause bad feeling, but having been in Jeffs place i can appreciate his side. Just remember, out there safety is priority 1....Period!
