Well I just recieved the rods I ordered a week and a half ago from tunertoys.com, I also have my moroso pan, ls-vtec kit, bearing kit, oem rings, oem gsr waterpump, oem gsr timing belt, arp head studs, and a few other odds and ends. I also picked up some motegi ff6 rims w/tires (yes ricer, yet better than the adr's and i got them dirt cheap). I need to source some 450 injectors if anyone has any they'd like to part with.

My goal was to have it all said and done by the 20th broken in and tuned.. but thats about impossible. I really want to clean up my trans, and check the 3rd gear syncro because it seems like maybe a worn blocking ring. I also want to get some better cams but if i even try to get it done by the 20th that wont happen. I still havent contacted a machine shop about the honing and balancing. So yes I understand it wont be done.

And why do you need 450's? Get it all done and tug it on the dyno at the dyno day. Need more fwd cars to spin the rollers. Its hard right now cause this is about the time when everyone bring their motors and heads to the machine shops to get built or serviced before the race season, so i wouldnt expect a quick turn around time with any shop. Im having my head rebuilt and its been over 2 weeks. if your building the motor for boost.....seriously, seriously consider picking up some forged pistons. This being your first true honda build, dont work the stock cast pistons....believe me, ive killed my fair share of stock honda hardware. Just a piston rod combo on stock sleeves can make 450+ hp with no worries.

My Honda knowledge is getting rusty...but I would assume he is getting forged pistons because if I remember correctly you can't run OEM Honda pistons on forged rods. Or maybe you can and you just need to have the machine shop modify the rods?

from what i read it said i can still use my b16 pistons. Otherwise i'm using the arp rod studs and using the ls rods untill they bust because i can NOT afford to put any more into this car.

Are you running an Eagle Rod? How much did they cost you from TunerToys?

I'm not a Honda guy...but generally speaking if you're going to shell out for good rods you dont want to ruin them with stock pistons....

I got the "tunertoys" rods. From what i've read online they are essentially the same as eagle but without the name. Probably a quality difference, but they were only 250 bucks.

Well jacob got his "fasteva" eagle rods for his build on the turbo festiva for his brother, and they look exactly the same as mine in texture, weight, style, everything. So i'll take my chances.

I got the first batch of tunertoys d16 I-beams from craig for my vitara build way back in the day... with the small ARP rod bolts to boot.

My bro has been testing them out at 9000rpms the last couple of weeks... I havn't heard any complaints yet!

Oh and did I mention the motor has been running for 3years now!?

Your seruoisly wasting your time if your noy gonna shell out a little more money for pistons. Stock pistons are gonna fail on average waay before the rods. Dont get cheap at this point....the better insurance and peace of mind knowing that you have good pistons in there to compliment the rods is very worth the money youde spend. Get ahold of Reid and he can prolly get you a good price on pistons that wont break the bank. I highly recommend NOT using stock pistons if your already gonna be in there doin stuff!

well, I threw it back together to just use the b16. I seriously cant afford pistons currently so i just put her back together and i'm going to wait untill I can afford pistons so i dont end up cheaping out and regretting it later, I'm also waiting so i can afford some 450 injectors (because hpi wont tune it w/o) and it makes sense, i'm also going to get better cams before its tuned because stock cams would be a waste. The motegi's look sick on the car, and it handles amazing so i'm prety happy.

i really dont think u have anything really crazy enough to go bigger than your stock 240cc....and it should be waaaayyy easier just tuning the stock injecters....but if anything just get some prelude 310's if u want bigger for dirt cheap...

Is this for a NA setup or boost?

If its for NA and assuming your trying to bump up the compression, I believe JE makes a press fit piston that will fit on a OE rod. You won't need anything larger than stock injectors unless you start getting into 2liter displacement and flirting with 9000rpms. 240cc injectors should be fine, just bump up the fuel pressure slightly if needed, but I highly doubt you'll need it.

For boost... save your money and get R done right the first time. ;)

good luck with the build.
