Well, I thought the '96 supra was gonna be my step into a faster class of cars... so much for that.

After a couple close encounters of the "240 kind," Ive considered going the SR'd 240 route, or possibly turbo supra route.

at the moment I could go either way. I know supras are capable of big horsepower numbers, but they have a lot of weight 3550+.

as opposed to a SR20'd 240 weighing significantly less. I dont know the exact weight of these cars, or their power capabilities, but I take look at Hoys car, and am really impressed with the times its spitting out.

Larry, if I decide to go the 240 route, I was wondering if you could guide me on the process of building these cars. Does the sr20 require a different k-frame? how hard's the change. Any pitfalls or downfalls to the 240 that I should know about?

thanks

Brandon

Do you want to spend alot of money, or a whole lot of money. A 240 or a supra are those respectivly to build. (compared to other alternatives)

SR Swaps in 240's is very straight forward. Motormounts line up, driveshaft is fine, the only real things that come up are wiring, Powersteering (if putting SR in 89-90), tachometer (once again SR in 89-90), and other than that everything else is straight forward. LSD is definitely recommended, even with it I still spin 1, 2, and chirp 3rd well. If you need a motorset, I got a solid hook up on good motors. As far as tuning goes its basic, one step at a time and the right combination, I seem to have found one that works and is cost effective. Any other questions feel free to ask, I've done the swap about 6 times now and I'm starting to get pretty knowledgeable. As far as 240 vs. Supra, if you're looking for best bang for the buck, find a cheap 240 and go SR or CA18DET. 89-90's are quite a bit lighter than 91+ 240's especially if you gut the piss out of the car like I did. However if you like comfort and air conditioning and powersteering you won't get quite as light as me, but I'm starting to want powersteering.
