That's right folks, she finally arrived. Still need to install the suppressor, since Surefire forgot to send me spacers to install it correctly, but for the photo's sake I just slipped it over the current flash hider. Now I need to decide which optics to go with... I really want to do the ACOG for .308 click (http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/parts_new.cfm?categoryID=3) in 5.5x50 but I don't know if I want to spend that much cash... the rifle combo is already a hefty investment. Tell me what you think!

jeffrosgt, very nice collection. I love the way an MP5 feels, I just hate 9mm... a good portion of my collection is H&K. I have a suppressed .40 USP Compact and a FP6 shotgun, and used to have one of the rare SL8-1s until I sold it (I really regret that). What do you think of the USCs?
98spydert, what's weird about the combo? It's the exact combo that was up for military approval for the new SASS class... and is almost identical to the winning Armalite entry. For more info on this rifle, do a google search... I wanted a semi-auto .308 for midrange shooting. I wanted to suppress it and I wanted it to be sub-MOA. I wanted a gas piston system for reliability, and I wanted adjustable gas for suppression. I got all this plus collectability in the DPMS SASS. One of 100.
It has all the cool features, a front quad rail, ambi safety, 3 lb trigger by JP, etc. I guess I'm just curious why you think it's weird?

I think your rifle is weird because it's nothing like a M110 even though that's what you were shooting for(no pun intended). No google search needed, I was a designated marksman in the Marine Corps and am quite familiar with it's weapons. While I was not a scout sniper, I know enough to tell you that Armalite did not win the competition and the entry from DPMS was nothing like yours short of being an AR-10 platform. You have a similar railed handguard with harris bipod and it's supressed. Those are the only similarities. You have a midlength gas system, the M110 has a rifle length gas system. Your barrel is flutted, the M110 is not. I'm not for sure on your barrel length because you slipped the suppressor over it but it looks like an 18" barrel which is 2" shorter than the M110s. Those BUIS are nothing like the set submitted by Knights. While I've seen a picture or two of a SR-XM110 with a colapsible stock, the M110 has a fixed stock that is adjustable like the M24. KAC aquired the contract for the new 7.62 NATO SASS to replace our beloved M24 SWS (which will remain in service regardless). If you want your clone to be more accurate, you'll skip the ACOG and go with a Leupold daylight optic like all (most) military service rifles use for magnified optics. Afterall, the requirements from the Army said the new SASS should be effective to 1000M. That's NOT midrange.
An 18" barrel, rifle length FF handguard with swivel base Harris, and colapsible butt stock is the EXACT configuration of the Navy's Mk 12 Mod 0/1 SPR (Special Purpose Rifle) used by our special forces in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.. If you want to boast about a military clone, use the SPR.
It is a nice rifle though! I wasn't trying to rip on it. The only parts I really wouldn't do myself are the DPMS grip because the palm stop is in the way when making a grab for the grip, and the ambi safety because it's a waste of money for a right handed shooter.

lol My "collection" is my toy G.I. JOE guns sitting in my desk at work I read your post and thought I would be a funny guy. I don't have the first clue about assault riffles. The only firearm I own is a Ruger P-89 9mm. Its good for home protection and plinking around that's all. Now when WWIII goes down I got this tight spot to hide and your more than welcome to join w/ all your toys! lol I'm just kidding or am I ?

jeffrosgt, it was such a crappy picture that I thought I would give you the benefit of the doubt lol. Sorry about that. As far as places to hide, since you like plastic guns, may I suggest Canada? lol
98spydert, you are right that KAC did win the contract. I would never buy anything from them due to reports of shoddy workmanship and terrible customer support. I bought this rifle because it was everything I wanted, I wanted a carbine length gas system and a slightly shorter than 20" barrel, since my suppressor would be adding length and FPS. I'm not a good enough shot to be effective out to 1000m, between 300 and 400m would be as far as I would be shooting. This rifle fitted all my requirements, and it's just a bonus that it was made to fit requrements set out by the defense department. I'm not a spec ops sniper, I just want a fun .308. No desire for a clone, especially if the clone looked like the m110... blah. BTW did the BATF have a problem giving you an SBR stamp for your 14" entry AR? I was thinking of doing a SBR on a nice Vulcan Arms H&K...

I don't have any SBRs because they're banned in WA :( I can only dream. The 14.5" has a fixed phantom flash hider to bring it to legal length and the shorter looking rifle on the far left with the VLTOR stock and Aimpoint is a 9mm with 16" barrel. It's just out of the picture. You can see the M203 cut out right before the coffee table gets in the way. Give us a review of that supressor, I've been wanting a 7.62 supressor for a while. Can you run that one wet?

I thought they were banned in WA... what are you going to shoot out of the M203? Flares?
The Surefire suppressor is supposedly one of the best out there. You can run it wet, and it is supposed to retain it's zero even when detached and reattached with the quick release ring. As soon as I find a gunsmith who will touch it with a 10 ft. pole, I will get the thing professionally mounted... it takes a little bit of work and definately a gun vise which I do not have. Link to their suppressors below...

Oh, I don't have a M203. I just meant you can see it's a 16" gov profile barrel.

Ahh, gotcha. Didnt feel like looking back for the pic... I have a friend that shoots parachute flares out of an M203 style launcher.
