Here's a pretty nifty shop project were working on. Its an 85 Porsche 928S that was dragged out of a barn with a dead motor for 1000 bucks. How do you fix a gay expensive porsche motor? You yank it and drop in a 99 vette LS1 is how!

Renegade Hybrids makes a pretty neat conversion that uses the C5 bellhousing to mate it to the very similar Porsche torque tube drive and comes with a bitchin fabricated oil pan to clear the steering rack. We had to convert it back to cable throttle to accomodate the automatics tranny cable and are using a 99 Camaro harness and ECM.

Im gonna use my HP Tuners to kill the VATS link and its gonna use the stock fan control and A/C command too. We managed to hybrid the Porsche A/C lines with the Camaro stuff after some creative TIG welding. The idea is to make it look like an OEM install and i think a stock Vette filter assembly will work up front since we tipped the radiator back like the C5 vette.

The radiator, fans and condensor are all 99 camaro items for easy replacement and service. The exhaust will use a Flowmaster 2 in. single out muffler in the catalytic converter location with some Hedman shorty headers i sawed up to fit right. Should be fast and fun! factory top speed was 150 mph with a crazy 2.20 to 1 final drive.

That means 150 mph comes up at a measly 4600 rpm so i bet this LS motor ought to push top speed up a lot higher! Wheels are TSW 19 inchers with a Porsche logo glued over the center cap. Sweet!

Not my favorite looking car, but you certainly just made it a hell of a lot cooler!

Of all the cars Porsche made, with exception of the 2004+ 996 twin turbo, the 928 are my favorite. V-8, front engine, RWD, perfect Porsche that provided a nearly 50/50 weight balance. Nice project, be sure and keep updates and burnout vids posted.

It should be a pretty fun car when its done! Unfortunately, no boost is scheduled to be installed. The LS1 motors weigh almost 100 lbs less than the stock engine so weight balance is even better than stock. Plus modern tire technology ought to make this thing handle far better than it ever did stock!

What do you guys think of this? The intake pipe had so little clearance to the hood and nothing worked sooooo, after swearing at this geometric F**KING nightmare for a while this is what i came up with. Finish welding and lots of bondo to finish off the curves and it should be golden! Globby welds and gaps? I dont care. Bondo is my friend. LOL

Yeah i looked at all those and unfortunately the shaping just wasnt right for it. Plus most intake tubes have a corvette logo molded in thats designed for the reverse opening hood. So the logo was upside down and ruined everything.

Got the Porsche up and running finally. Its not as fun as you would think because the rearend ratios SERIOUSLY hamper performance and its hard to get the motor in the sweet spot with limited tranny control in low gear.
The intake pipe turned out pretty neat though. KC Auto matched the engine cover color perfectly and i shot the primer super lumpy and the paint really dry to simulate the texture and make it look plastic. LOL

Holy hell i think Marshall and I are pretty much done with this damn thing. Trying to hybrid all HVAC systems, tranny cooler and fuel system from porsche to corvette is very similar to capturing an alien spacecraft and trying to understand its advanced technology.

EVERYTHING Porsche is so completely gay that NOTHING went simple and easy. Blah! Time to do burnouts and get some payback on this thing. LOL
