I'm going to get a few things taken care of on the car and was wondering if there are good places to get parts online cheaper than the dealer. Oil pan gasket is needed asap since its costing me an arm and a leg in oil alone. Secondly would be an aluminum drive shaft which I'm having a hard time finding online. Anyways, just wonderin where you guys get most your parts besides from broken down DSM's.

JNZ has beat every price I have gone in search of. He always has the best prices on OEM parts. :)

I'm 99% sure there isn't a factory oil pan gasket.?Most people use Ultra Black RTV after cleaning the pan buy applying it aound the pan surface and in the holes...
Here is a link from tuners about it..

you're right scott, I just read up on it. no pan gasket, RTV is the way to go after cleaning it. Where were you on that one Steve? lol :)

when i built my first motor i used silicone and it leaked after about 3 days, theni called motion and picked one up for $5 and no problems. theres also one on the jnz tuning website.

from reading the post, doesn't sound like you really need one. Just have to make sure you clean it really well before appying the RTV to it. It does say on the dsmtuners that some people changed bolts and found a gasket that works. I was just flippin you shit Steve, I figured they had to have an aftermarket one for higher pressure.

I've never had to do one on my 2g. I've been lucky. you have to do just about everything short of pulling the motor to do it on the 2g's....

How hard is it to do on the 2g's. On the 1g's, you have to pull the transfer case, downpipe, and the driverside crossmember, then just the oil return tube. kind of a PITA.

Pretty sure it's the same process. I thought that was 2g awd only issue. Looks like it is just an awd issue..

which is why I'd like to do the driveshaft at the same time, but I don't think I can neglect the pan any longer.

Are you going to buy/replace the rear input shaft seal while your doing this? And change all your drivetrain fluids?

that would be the right way to do it. most likely, yes.

94blueGSX - Sounds like fun. I just finished rebuilding my driveshaft last night! (ujoints, spicers, carrier bearings, tcase yoke and seals)?Fun times?
The DriveShaft Shop sells an aluminum driveshaft (what Shepard uses)...You can also get it from Horsepowerfreaks in Portland. It only replaces the first two shafts though. I?ve heard of people having issues with the driveline angles in single pice shafts due to the transversely mounted tranny in our cars. Check it out: http://www.driveshaftshop.com/item135619.ctlg
