Some of you have inquired about my recent dragster project, so i figured I would post a few pictures. For the record, I will spare you the pleasure of giving me grief.......... I do work out of a 2 car garage, and yes I am stupid for putting a SBC in a dragster, and it may not be some fancy trick looking setup, it is a 'home made' job that i screwed together in my 2 car garage....... its not much by todays standards, but its what i have, and I have fun with it :)

This project started because the carburetor was just entirely to complicated for me, i could not figure it out. So i went with EFI. I found an old Individual Runner (IR) mechanical injected intake manifold. I knew I would also be moving to an electronic fuel injection (EFI) system so i would be retrofitting the manifold to work with the EFI.

I designed the injection system in Solidworks. It allowed me to be able to have drawings for all of the parts that needed machined and lazer cut. It took me a great deal of time to get everything just right, it is more difficult than if looks. Things can get pretty tight when trying to implement all the EFI components, as well as a scoop.

In the conversion, I also needed an EFI controller so i put one together myself with a processor and board, some of you may recognize this, it is a modified MS2. The great part about this is it is very versatile, and inexpensive as you build and configure it yourself as long as you are willing to put the time in and learn a few things. The extra box on top is for the Low impedance injector drivers, and if all goes as planned will be a key to making this car ultra consistent. I am running 120lb/hr low impedance injectors on methanol (4A peak.1A hold) on a belt drive pump. I use a wideband o2 for feedback and tuning and have a Lambda gauge in the dash.

This is a Dart Little M block, Brodix Track1 heads, Oliver Rods, Wiesco pistons, 14.5:1 compression, Jesel shaft rockers/timing belt system, and a roller cam. I am running it on alcohol (methanol), and given the setup with the injection i am hoping that it will produce some good torque for a decent ET.

OK, getting long winded on the explaination, the pictures tell the story.

I made sure to draw a schematic for future trouble shooting

Looks very nice, I especially like the fact that you work out of a two car garage. Not good for my campain for a shop, but it can be done. Keep up the excellent work.
