Hey guys, just wondering who in our area (CDA preferably ha) has the ability to give me the specs on a cam i have had sitting in my shop for a while.
There is no part number on it, and i don't know the manufacturer so i can't just call someone up with a part number.
Thanks for the help,
-Matt

My brother and I have ran into this before. We have a 434 small block in one of our race cars that we had no idea of the cam specs...nothing, not even the correct lash setting. We talked to many people and we got the same story: not really possible. About the only thing that could be done is measure the lobe lift. No duration, lobe center, LSA yada yada yada...all of that could possibly achieved by degreeing the cam when its in the motor but even then its not exact. Who knows tho, there might be some cam wizard around that probably has a way.... Maybe call Steve Tanzi at Erson Cams (if he is still around) 800-641-7920

thanks guys, i'll give those numbers a call tomorrow morning.
If i could even find out the lift that would be somewhat helpful...

That is about the size of cam i was looking for when i was N/A. Now i'm looking for something a little more FI friendly.

What kind of boost are you doing? Might play around with it on the stock 346 and trex cam just to see how it runs should sound badass

If you're ambitious enough , you can degree the cam in at 110 or whatever and use a dial indicator to measure the .050 duration , lift, and lobe sep. The lash is something that's spec'd at the factory and I don't know how they generate the numbers.

Steve; I'm not quite sure i am that ambitious haha, from what i'm hearing on this site and everywhere else there is no relatively simple way to go about this. So i'm not going to worry about the unknown cam for now..

i'm running the stock 346 with a P1 at 10 lbs, LS6 cam, and hand ported 241's. Its a pretty tame build but it should be fun.
and that F1A on a 346... that should be interesting, but it has been done by a couple people. I think you might need a custom pulley made for the head unit to keep the boost down.

Well I figure the trex will bleed of 3-4lbs cause of the 110LSa so I think an 8lb pulley should do lol. Cant remember is your car a 6 speed or auto? Stock 10 bolt? Where did you get your procharger setup from?

Hey thats a good way to look at things.
And I have a stock T56, and the stock 10 bolt. I probably won't be making too many passes at the track this year just for that reason.
I picked up the kit up from a LS1tech member who bought it from Exotic Performance Plus for his trans am and couldn't afford to keep it...i got the better end of that deal for sure.

Thunder Racing has a cam doctor. I think they have a fee but it will give you a full detailed cam report.
