You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you,
so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have Black History Month.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of

proclaimed Black Colleges in the US, yet if there were "White
colleges" that would be a racist college.

Why is it that only whites are labeled as racists?

I am not racist in any way, I have some Indian in me and have dated several people of different races, but the only reason we still have racism is because of the people who claim they are being discriminated against.

Institutional racism, AKA "White Priveledge." Its in the context of a large picture snap shot, and not to be twisted with the context of 'personal.' So save your breath, don't sit there and try to defend yourself if you think i'm attacking on an 'individual' level.

Think about it, for many hundreds of years our institutions have been built to inhance White culture. Thats a fact. The high percentage of White college graduates on a national level outweighs the rest of the "colored" folks.

So who gets to hold the positions of power? certaintly not the kids in the hood. The ones who lack resources, then fall into media stereotypes, and further perpetuating the cycle of the underclass.

I totally agree, especially with that hiphop comment. I like HipHop but most of that MTV swagger crap is sending out the wrong message, either that or the fact that a Black man has to try to look a certaint way b/c thats what the stereotypes dictate. Holy shit this funny! Wife and I were watching TV last night and they were talking about black history month I think. I blew a gasket! Reverse racism is worse than the actual thing. Let me tell you a little story.

When I was In junior high I went to north pines it was my ninth grade year There was 1 black kid that attended the school. I was not brought up with racism in my family one day the black kid decided he was going to pick on the fat kid being me so after several attempts to give me a swirly and shove me in a garbage can I decided I would humiliate him so I started telling our peers that he tried to butt rape me ha ha ha so in gym class I'm laying on my back in my spot and boom the lights went from off to non existent! When I came to I was sent to the office withe the kid who did it no supervision or anything so I was placed in the sick room for the entire day when the Principal call my mother he told her " I had a nice shiner and I deserved it" I was also given 3 days ISS (in??school suspension) for mocking the other kid while the track star was sent back to class without so much as a slap on the wrist! When I got home my dad too one look at my completely swollen shut eye and took me to the er the er called the police they came out took some photos and said that they where going to arrest the kid (never happened) ten thousand dollars worth of reconstructive surgery later you have my beautiful mug! after missing 3 months of school I went back the same day I returned to school I was hauled into the office and told I had no right to call the cops on the kid and I was lucky I was allowed to return to that school followed by that I went to an assembly where they honored the kids track and field achievements! Now at north piles sorry I mean North pines they had a strict "zero tolerance" policy that stated if you are caught fighting or witnessing a fight your are automatically suspend for a minimum of 3 days and you will be removed from any extracurricular sports activities! Guess that rule doesn't apply in this case! As for the final bit of who gives a fuck! Our prosecuting attorney would not file charges because and I quote "He is black and I am white and we cannot afford that kind of negative publicity" Needless to say my mom and dad had to pay the medical bills and I had to repeat my 9th grade year! While this guy got to go on with his life with no reprimand what so ever! Sorry for the spelling and grammar I am sleepy and wanted to through my 2 cents in before I forgot.

This is getting tiring so i'll just end my peice with this... We got to take people as individuals and keep from generalizing. Ive lived all over the West Coast and experience a lot of different things so I consider myself pretty thick skinned for a young buck, but Spokane is kind of a bubble, you get the worst of both ends of the spectrum when it comes to acultured people, or lack of acultured. The way our world is going, globalization, and more diversity... hehe... I don't know what kind of careers you guys are involved in but i'm a finance major, if you don't learn to take people for individuals then you ain't getting nowhere fast. Well if you read, and reread what i write, I never advocate putting up a banner that says "insert pride." As a matter of fact when i see those kinds of things i find mind self thinking how fucking corny. I'm just telling you what sociologists who study this topic are saying, and after thinking about it long and hard, it makes sense to me. So i'm mearly reiterating it.

And as i clearly stated on one of the earlier posts, there are clearly two distict issues, institutional and individual. Its a fact that America stole the Native's lands, believe it or not they even teach that in American History now. I swear im just not making it up!

its good to see that this has stayed on a "discussion" level rather than going to the level of a pointless argument where everyone just bashes on each other because you get angry up for not liking what someone else says.??we all should know that you can't educate an ingnorant person if he closes his eyes, covers his ears, and doesn't want to listen to anything other than his own thoughts.??hopefully everyone is reading this post with an open mind and not automatically ruling out someone else's point or opinion just because it doesn't fall within your views.??the fact of the matter is that no one is perfect so i doubt that anyone is 100% correct with what they are saying.??

will there ever be a time when racial differences is no longer a problem???probably not so deal with it.??if you can't deal with it then do something about it instead of just complaining.??everyone is so quick to complain and throw in their opinions but when it comes to actions, where the fuck did everyone go???if all you wanna do is just complain, then be my guest cuz everyone needs to vent and blow off steam about something every now and then.??yes, there are those who walk the walk instead of just talk and sometimes that still doesn't change shit.??it may require that you walk 1 block by yourself or you may need to walk 1000 miles with a million other people who feel your shit.

i agree with jeffrosgt (even though he added it as comic relief) that racism is only part of the problem with prejudices and discrimination out there.??also, can somebody tell me what "reverse racism" is if it is an actual term???those people crying out about racism probably discriminate in other terms such as against overweight individuals or those with a learning disability or those with just something out of the "norm."??this may well be towards individuals of the same ethnic group but hey, its ok because its not being racist.

like it or not, our culture today brews racism/discrimination/prejudice to a cetain level.??i'm sure many out there crack racial/discriminating jokes here and there and use improper slurs and terms but when it occurs, does anyone jump right out and say its wrong or that we should use more politically correct terms.??shit, you have comedians out there cracking racial jokes left and right and what do we all do, laugh along with it.??granted, i do believe that this is more open within our culture because most of us out there are open-minded individuals and take these things as jokes because they refer to things that we see, maybe not all the time but we do see it.

Way back when, I had to finish a report to get my Masters Degree. This report was to be based on facts and your projections on where we were as a country in 1955,1985, and where we will be in 1995 and 2005. At the time, I was in the military, and I reported on the obervations of my surroundings.

I cited facts from published authors of various religions, colors and creeds. I then went on to convey the attitudes and interpersonal relationships that these people had within their subcultures and the cross subcultures interaction.

Needless to say, I was call a racist and should be admonished for bringing these facts to light. I never speculated nor did I ever add any personal bias. Needlees to say I never got my Masters.

So in summation, Travis you hit it dead on. Anyone who thinks otherwise should really pick up a book.

BTW, something is bugging me about this post. No one stole land from the "Native Americans". Stole implies unlawful activity. White or Spanish explorers either bought, traded or invaded their land. If you can't hold on to it then you lose it. That's the way it works, in the real world.

Plus, most scientists agree that the native americans migrated from elsewhere, albiet quite a bit earlier. If so, that means that the white/hispanic settlers have just as much right to it as the "native americans". To the settlers credit, they didn't just wipe everyone out like many other invaders have. Now, the great great decendants of those settlers are paying money to the deposed, and giving them many advantages that the settlers children don't get. I don't have a problem with that, in the abstract, since again, what you can't hold on to you lose. However, I don't think it is right that we (IE Americans) support one group over another.

BTW, I am adopted, I have no idea what my true ancestery is. I could be part native american, and I am reasonably sure that I have some black in me as well. But it's all speculation, as I have no real idea.
