our NHRA track

ok well after my experience i had at the track tonight and after talking to many pissed off people who watched this happen, i have decided to post to see what your thoughts are. first off i apologize if ANY track officials here take this personally its MY OPINION and so take if how you wish. also this contains some personal "drama" as well as some bs about the track, read if you like. its a little long :D

First off a little background on the whole thing. I recently dated a girl who works at the track. to avoid BS i wont name her but ill give you a hint. She is the girl that didn't know jack about tech and was allowing anyone and everything through tech last year. she was very well known by many as the "dumb girl in tech" well i recently broke up with her and we agreed to keep it civil..so i thought. so i get to the track and i line up, an hour later im at the line, im stoked to be back again! and all of a sudden i have 10 track officials around my car, including "her". they inform me that my car is a "proven 9 second street car ON STREET TIRES!!!. i laughed and immediately knew she had something to do with it. so they keep me at the line for a good 5 minutes and i was talking to a very nice guy named Jim. he was very nice and very concerned about my safety. So i tell them that im on a bum clutch and street tires and yeah the car ran low 11's last year but i wont be anywhere near that right now and NOWHERE NEAR 9s. he told me multiple times that i wasn't to go over 11.49 and 135 mph. cool nothing new that i didn't know. however this wasn't a quick "you know you need to keep it under 11.49" it was a interrogation. so after a LONG talk he lets me stage. i launch and spin like crazy, the car came sideways but not bad and i ran a 16.8 @ 64 mph! I babied it down because i didn't want to even come close after the previous pep talk. so i come back around and i talk to a few people who tell me that "she" was on the radio telling them not to let me run because im a proven 9 second car and i have no safety equipment (did have a helmet). then i get a text from her that reads "lol" and i admit i should have just put the phone down but....i responded

i heard what you said on the radio, hilarious (about me being a 9 second car) ill be back next time 100% legal.

she responds

"I am supposed to stop you you are on the list of not to run so i am doing my job"

i respond

"im not bitching just laughing. I ran a 16.8 @65 mph. just makes it more fun when i come back :)"

blah blah, the last text i sent before the problem was

"ur taking it the wrong way. i can appreciate u doing ur job, i just thought it was funny my car ran 9's without me knowing. i fully expect u to keep me safe thats ur job"

so after i came back around to the line jim comes to talk to me (at this point very polite) and he says that he doesn't want me to run anymore because hes concerned about my safety, i asked him what rules my car was breaking at 16 sec et. after a min of talking he admitted that it was legal but has "too much power". i told him that i would keep it slow just like the last run. he finally says that he will let me run it ONE MORE TIME. i still didn't understand what i did wrong at this point with my 16 sec car but i gladly accepted the deal and said screw it. so i go to line up and then they all come storming back to me. jim informs me that he now knows what im up to and that "she" showed him my texts. i said ok...and... he replied you planed this whole thing. I asked him what the hell he was talking about. he started to tell me to get the f#@$ off of his track and that he will be calling the cops! i again said what the hell did i do? he says your just here to break the rules and you planned the whole thing...once again i was lost. then he says that im "harassing his staff" i attempted to tell him what was going on, i tried handing him my phone so he could see i did nothing of the sort. i was nice to her never said anything offensive so idk what he is talking about. he told me to leave and never come back... so i left. i was all good with having NHRA rules and having to conform to them, i was getting ready to. i came out tonight to run slow and just get some passes in. i just don't get why someone who followed the rules and what the official told me to do, and after doing nothing wrong they still pull me. and this was before he thought i was "harassing" his official. are they going to be punishing cars that are keeping it under the legal rules because they think i might break them? shouldn't it be ok unless i break them? and after telling me i can run but to keep it slow, i do just that and he decided to pull me anyway, i just don't get it!

now i know because i have history with one of the track officials this is complicated but the main points here is that before jim had any clue that she was my ex, before he knew i was talking to her or anything. he was not allowing me to run my car after i followed every rule he gave me. his attitude in the beginning was GREAT i even told one of the officials that i thought he was a great guy. i still think he is and i can under stand that he had no idea that "she" was abusing her power to punish me. but what i don't get is he has a tech telling him that my car is a 9 second car "PROVEN ON STREET TIRES" thats understandable that he stopped me and told me to keep it slow. but he DRILLED it into me over and over about not breaking 11.49...i went super slow not to piss anyone off. then he pulls me off the track! i don't get it. to me it felt like i was a target from the second "she" got on the radio. eric (the admin here) witnessed a tech guy calling me some names when i lined back up and this was before i had even talked to jim after my first run, that leads me to believe that "she" was doing some trash talking to cause issues for me. i wasn't going to post any of this because i didn't think it was worth it, but i received many calls tonight from people who were standing next to tech guys and heard the whole thing on the radio and watched them talk to me. I was excited to have a NHRA track, i even decided to cage my whole car, and i mentioned that to jim. he said good you will need it. then at the end as im leaving he tells me "and i will be calling Shelley to let him know about you!" i was just in shock and confused at this point so i slowly drove off the property and stayed calm.

There was just a HUGE lack of professionalism the entire night. the name calling, cussing at me, punishing me after i followed the rules he told me to follow, and then topping it off by threatening to "tell" on me to Brian. so anyway im tired and im sure this will be an interesting post when i wake up so POST ON if you please. and thanks for everyone who came up to me tonight and supported me on this whole thing :D

I would honestly go in during the week and talk to Cindy. Ive had a chance to talk to her a couple times and she has always seemed very level headed to me. Im sure she will appreciate the situation. I totally know the chick you're talking about. Like was already suggested, definitely go above tech on this one and I would imagine the issue will get solved. Really though "proven 9 second car on street tires"? Assuming we're talking real street tires and not DRs, not to say its impossible but in order to pull that off your car would probably have to be closer to a funny car than a street car.

it really shouldnt matter how fast your car is if you keep it within the limits.. spokane has always had troubles with finding good help, i was pissed after they went nhra and the same morons were running the place, i figured they would have hired "professionals" to run the place, and to have an employee that has her attitude??? this is why its tough to appoint a female as an authority figure, its to hard for them to separate personal from profesional..

i would absolutely take this over thier heads, and sounds like the guy is either dumbass to, or he wants to get in her pants so he does the enforcer bit to look cool, either way it's very unprofessional and should be dealt with..
and anybody who took notice of this should also speak up, caus one voice wont go very far here.

Sorry man, i saw the first bit of it when a ton of them seemed to end up around your car when you were standing there. Then next time around saw you having to leave.. wasnt making sense. She was always a b-witch teching cars, and always seemed to have an attitude.. Hope you can talk to cindy and get it all figured out. employee's shouldnt be taking sides on cars ignoring the facts, especially if its a girl trying to get back at an old boyfriend.

also I have to say that the whole time you were being really professional about it from what i saw.

Their tech has some bugs to work out aswell.. i was told they wernt going to enforce the single layer jacket rule on turbo/nitrous cars. but then the track official who tech'd my car told me if i was going to run under 13 or 14 (cant remember exactly) that i had to have the single layer jacket due to the aftermarket turbo. but there were TONS of people running 12's, 13's, and 14's with aftermarket turbo/nitrous with no single layer jacket

They have no time slip, no previous run that is in the low 10's to base anything on; and you get booted. Did you at least get paid for taking it deep?

And ill tell ya another thing if we were to EVER, and i mean EVER have a professional event here with some "BIG BOYS" to show up they would look at the way this place was ran last night laughed and turned around and gone home, ill tell ya my dad went out there when orville was running it and john force showed up made 1 pass, couldnt hook to save his soul and told orville im never coming back.... so now that it is a "NHRA" track whats gonna happen if we do have a big event say pinks or something??? if they come out to scout our track and see the way its ran there just gonna laugh and say ya ok how about NO!!

Im glad that others see my frustration especially you 1blackta its nice to hear from a long time customer of the track. i was stoked about having a track that was getting improved and the NHRA thing didnt bother me all that much i figured it was time to step up anyway. yeah thats her lol. she just turned 18 when we started dating. very young and has a lot to learn! and yeah i agree its bad when i can say "the dumb girl who was teching cars last year" and everyone knows her and has a story about her. and i wasn't aware that jim was cindys BF. i have been told by many to write a letter to her about this, i wonder the outcome of that with jim being her BF. like i said before about jim, i think he was a nice guy at first. and as for the him getting pissed at me for "harassing" her i can understand for the most part. it wasn't his fault that she lied to him. but he went to far no matter what way you look at it. I was out tonight and was told by many people that there's some People at the track fighting for me about this whole thing. not sure who that is but i appreciate it :D the other thing i heard is that apparently she told someone that i threatened her with my gun and that i had it with me in my car. most of you here know i love guns and have many. i forgot my daily cary in my cobra last year and when tech found it they turned me around and sent me home. after that it became part of my routine for the track. slicks.....check.....helmat....check....cobra....c heck....no gun....check! first off im not about to give up my gun rights for a felony over my ex being a bitch to me at the track. and second i didn't have my gun with me! so cant wait to see if i get a gun charge over this now. idk but all i can say is i hope they really look into her actions and question with her reputation if she is a good fit for the job.

Your car HAS run faster than 11.50 which you stated in the OP. Whether that time is 11.40 or 9.00 you still do not have the safety equipment necessary for what the car is CAPABLE of. The employees at the track have all been asked to notify tech if they see cars that they know have run faster than their safety equipment will allow. This employee was well within her job description to call tech and notify them.

From your OP, it sounds like Jim did what he should and warned you about going 11.49 or faster than 135 and let you run...but you said the car got sideways. That could be seen as a car that has too much power for street tires and a danger to you and other racers. What would have happened if you got loose at the 1000 ft mark (even if you were only running 11.51).

You now have two options:

1. Continue with this thread, piss off the track officials and secure your future place OUTSIDE of Spokane County Raceway.

OR,

2. Delete this thread and accept that you have some fault in this. Assuming that you dont is a mistake and will not work out for you. Shrug the shitty attitude and call or go talk to Jim and Cindy (go out by yourself). Apologize for the situation and explain that it was just a misunderstanding that got out of control. If you are honest and sincere you may actually be able to race again this season.

When we all know it is a 20 sec car. I know there is more to the story and most of them are just doing there jobs when one of there officials says this guy don't have the right safty equipment necessary to race but if this was the case why wasn't Cody stopped when they teched his car? what reid says depending how you look at it can make sense.....
but if what he says is how it is, then this rule absolutely NEEDS to be enforced for ALL cars that are known to be able to exceed the limits.. which i'm sure will put a serious damper on the FNSR program..
and yes the track can send any car home for any reason, and in all fairness it may just be a coincidense that

bottom line... the track officials handled this more personally than professionally and there should be something done about it...
the way tech works in my experiance is you go through tech for slower than 11.50, and if you exceed those limits, you get checked for proper safety, if it's not there you go home... atleast at renegade, pacific, and bremerton thats how it works.. but then again these tracks seem to spend the money for qualified personnel and not just friends and family to run their tracks....
at spokane its always been whoever will work for $15 a night is welcome, its been that way ever since i can remember...

i don't have a shitty attitude whatsoever and im more disappointed in the way things were handled than i am pissed off. as for deleting this post.....not going to happen because i believe i have the right to talk about anything i feel like. i have not made a single post that went to far and bashed ANYONE. i even commented that i liked jim and just thought he went too far. honestly going back to the track means jack shit to me anymore! no matter what i do at this point i will be a target there and im not going to deal with the bullshit. I understand they have the right to pull anyone they feel isnt safe. i wish someone had a video of my run, you would see my car MAYBE moved 1 ft to the right when it spun. i have seen guys go insane out there and never get talked to. on top of that I RAN A 16 second ET! at 64 MPH! I understand the car is a proven 11.40 car on slicks, but they were treating me like a 9 second car not a car that went 9 tenths of a second to fast LAST YEAR. safety of others i can understand to a point. racing is a dangerous sport and everyone knows and accepts that. if i crossed lanes and came close to tapping the wall, SURE pull me, but if a race car cant spin on the track and get a little loose than were ALL screwed! the fact that i had previous relations with a track official should not have played into this as much as it did. when i got the LOL from her maybe i should have cried HARASSMENT! instead i agreed with her and said it was Hilarius and i would be back 100% legal, as i would have told ANY track official that talked to me. the other thing thats BS is that what happened to professionalism!?!?! yelling and cussing at me in front of all the racers, thats no way to run a business. i wasn't yelling or even raising my voice, i was polite and professional to EVERYONE who worked there that talked to me. at the end i tried to hand him my phone so he could read for himself and see that he was getting played by her. that was the only time i didn't IMMEDIATELY follow their instructions.

I hope all of you have learned that old lovers dont make good friends. HPI, that includes trying to be just "friendly". Guys have a bad habit of playing hero when some woman complains about the ex. thats why they puffed up on you. as for your car, there are plenty of cars using a throttle stop to go slower than they can. problem is some of you think you can blast ass to the 1/8th then coast to a 11.50 @ 70mph and its ok. ITS NOT. If you are smart enough to make it go that fast; you are smart enough to make it run slower on a full pull. Try it, Im sure you can do it. good luck and keep racing. one last point, if you talk to Cindy, drop the whine about the ex. focus on the car only.

From what I saw your car barely stepped out, and I was surprised that you didnt get back in it. I thought Thumpin's Blazer was skating around more than your car and he powered through and had some really good runs.

From what I saw your car barely stepped out, and I was surprised that you didnt get back in it. I thought Thumpin's Blazer was skating around more than your car and he powered through and had some really good runs.

Everyone understands that they can refuse to let someone run for any reason.
But if we all have to worry about pissing off the track officials and in turn not being allowed entrance to the track; that is some real bullshit and shows the LACK of professionalism of SOME of the employees out there. I thought we were all adults? Maybe not.
Just a couple of bad decisions from one employee can ruin the reputation of all the employees at the track. Hopefully that practice wont continue.

Thank you im glad others seen that, i BARELY stepped out and i did let out of it, in fact my car was fuel cutting at the end so i just stopped. he used the excuse that my car was to crazy out there WTF? thats what this comes down to. i appreciate them doing there job to keep people safe. this wasn't the case,

first they give me a 5 min talk about how my car is a 9s car and they are afraid for my safety. then when i tell them that im conforming to the rules to run 11.49 they agree but say that i shouldn't even try for 11's tonight! then after they let me run and i behave by staying 5 seconds away from the 11's they pull me. they use the excuse that my car was too crazy out there, i was confused as to how. i know the car spun but i also know that it didn't go crazy and all over the place. it was bad excuses from the start because they had no good cause. and once again if a race car cant get a little loose then everyone should be very afraid of racing because if you have a bad run your done. most here understand my frustration but for the few here that think im "whining and bitcin" im really not, i have no desire to race there again so this is not an attempt to get them to let me. this is purely me expressing my right to say/post what i please...thats it!

I think someone (Mark) must have missed the part where it was said that she was not a tech official. I do believe tech said he could run 11.49 and slower and thats what he did. The reason why she doesnt tech anymore is because she couldnt pass an open book tech test so that should tell you something there. I am standing up for this chick you guys are picking on because this is all bull shit. One she has her tech license. Two she hardly teched last year because she did not have anyone helping her enforce the rules. Everytime she send someone up to the tower they came back with a signature from the two idiots

so....it was a good night for me. I decided to head to the track to watch my buddy run and figured i would either get asked to leave or just be fine since i drove my jeep. I get to the front gate and pay, then am stopped by a guy. he says "your not going to cause any problems are you?" i responded nope im just here to watch. i seen him radio i was here. i drive in and park and after a few minutes Jim the track manager (who kicked me out) walks up to me. He shook my hand and said nothing personal, i talked a little while with him and at the end he told me im welcome to come back and race. Jim was just doing his job based off of information from an employee that he should have been able to trust. I even said it in one of my posts that i thought he was a good guy at first. He really does seem like a fair guy after i got to talk to him. anyway i guess it ended up working out after all. thanks to everyone who supported me on this i really appreciate it :D

The suspension in my drag car is actualy made for road course. If the car wasnt completely setup for drag racing, i was gonna put a single cam in it with a tiny turbo and auto-x.
