Well, I need someone who knows how to solder very well to remove a chip from my ECU, and put a socket in it's place. Those without motherboard experience need not apply. If you have a Soldering station with a Solder sucker and you don't mind someone else using it, I can solder it myself too.

Solder suckers are $10 or so at Radio Shack. Pick one up. Works fine on the motherboards I've used it on.

I would also need a soldering pencil. Kind of a 1-time use thing - i would rarely use it again, y'know?

I wouldn?t do a home brew job on yer ecu. Take to it an electronics shop and have them do it. If they screw up you can make them buy you a new one. You want to be very careful de/soldering surface mount components and especial ICs. I don?t think the ecu pcb is multi layered but there isn?t much room for error and you are more than likely to burn the pcb and overheat the IC. Take it from me, ive done it too many times and im no amateur with a soldering iron.

The pencil is $5. You'll find other uses for the iron. Just buy it.
