For those of you that may or may not have heard, just thought I would let everyone know...

Phil (throttletag) did wreck the car yesterday in Boise. No he is not seriously injured. Just a bit sore. The car is totalled. His mom doesn't know how the wreck happened, just that it rolled end over end and skidded on the lid. I have already recieved a couple IM's and emails... he is fine. He is on his way home. I'm sure he will be online and let everyone know that he's alright, I just wanted to stop the rumors that I had already heard...

Wow. Im glad he is ok! Too bad about the car though. It was a pretty cool car. That is exactly what all the safety equipment is there for. So a guy can walk away from it! Thanks for the info.

Yeah, that kind of thing could happen to any of us at any time on the track. I really hope I never have to take that ride.

Phil, im glad you're ok, heal the wounds and get back in the car!!!

Yea, I talked to Phil and he is a little sore but doing fine, the car is in bad shape and they are not sure what caused the wreck yet. I am just glad to hear that Phil is ok!

Thought I'd let people know I'm doin' OK. We're gonna give it a couple of weeks before we dive into the car to see what caused the mayhem. We've got a couple of ideas running threw our heads but it's still pretty fresh in my head and I really don't (can't, too stiff) wanna crawl around the car yet. Should we come up with something for sure, I'll let everybody know. Be sure to wear ALL!!! your safety shit when necessary and make sure the belts are tight. Better to be uncomfortable for a few seconds than the alternative...

Thats tough to look at since that car was pretty bad ass but knowing that Phil is sitting there putting his sun glasses on is great. Cars are replacable, guys like Phil Hudlow arent.

Wow, phil, you definitely took a hell of a ride! But he always looks good for the camera and the ladies getting those shades back on! LOL How bent is the chassis? Looks like a good time to slip on a 02 firebird skin.

Marty... from what we can tell right now, the chassis is pretty well twisted up. We won't know till we get the body off and really get into it. As much as I would love to run this car again, I don't think it'll be savable. There should be a few pieces I can use on the "Dart". All that stuff that typically nickel and dimes ya to death when you're putting a car together. I've got all the time in the world now. So, after we go up and get wood for the winter, we can start in on those projects.

To everybody else... Thanks for all the well wishes.

Sorry I missed ya down there buddy. Glad to hear you are okay.

Thanks for all the tips last week. I flew through tech with minimal hassle. Even when I went "too fast", they were pretty cool about it since the car met tech.

Damn, I am really sorry to see the car in this kind of shape, to many good memories with the Bird....even more with you Phil, I am just happy that you came out alive. Looks like the Dart will be getting finished ahead of schedule. Dad is very happy that you made it out alive and sorry to hear about the car. I'll be out in the valley later this week and I will see you then!

I'm feeling a little better everyday. I just have to remember not to push it and slow myself down. Hell, it hasn't even been a week yet for a pretty big wreck so I just gotta take things easy for a while...

Hey Phil, I have a 2nd gen camaro chassis if you're interested in a new car. The rear pan has been cut out because I was starting the back half when I found the full tube camaro. I have the 2 piece nose but no fenders. You can have the car, but you'll need to file for a title if you want one. It's in Spokane.

Travis... I WAS BEAT UP!!! Didn't you see the size of those guy's!? LOL!!

Thanks for the offer of the Camaro but I've already got another chassis started.??Actually, the chassis' almost done, the body's mounted, the rear end is cut and ready for axel's... It won't be this next racing season but I'd like to see it come out maybe in '08.??(btw, it'll be a '68 Dart "super stock" clone...)

Well, we got the car apart. From what we can tell, nothing in or on the car looks to be the cause of the accident. The broken parts on the car seem to be all the result of the crash. Kind of hard to tell though. After getting the body off of the chassis, you can see how twisted the car really is. Things gave where they needed to and things held where they were supposed to. After talking to racers (both here and from down there) we've all come to the conclusion that it was the accumulation of a few things. Without dragging this on and on and me getting tired of typing, I'll give it the short version. Add up a cool day, not that many cars had run so an even cooler track and shut-down, a bumpy and somewhat short shut-down that actually goes down hill and a 2660 lbs car+driver running 150 mph = .... well, I think we know what it equaled that day.

Yeah, its too bad it happened. But hey, you lived to tell about it! I havent driven a big tire car before but from watching video, it sure seems like big back tires can really be your worst enemy if you hit the brakes too hard or get it bouncing. The control factor seems to go out the window on big steering inputs.
The guys that can save a slide on the big end can DRIVE!
