So, I had my Eclipse up on the lift at work today for rear pads. I noticed my rear pinion seal was leaking badly. I had my service advisor write up a work order on replaceing the seal. It's pretty cheap, only a $7 part with .8 hours labor. I schedualed an apt on Tuesday for them to it. The service mechanic looked at is and is betting me the slip-yoke is bad because of the amount of fluid and condition of the seal. I have no idea how he can figure, but none the less I had the parts dept call over to Mitsu for the cost of a replacement. Fucking slip-yoke is part of the driveshaft. You can't buy it without buying the intire driveshaft assembly from OEM.
$1079.. WTF... I might be doing a driveshaft too. Gay.

Yes, join the driveshaft crew. An important, but not so fun upgrade.

Scott...Go to the Domestic Spaldings (lot just east of pull and save, they have one (1) 93 TSi sitting in their yard - its an auto but the driveshaft has already been pulled from the car and is just laying on the ground - or at least it was when i was there 2 weeks ago. Have a machine shop press out the spicers - or do it your self if you like PITA jobs. The driveshaft should be the same for 1g & 2g.
Hope this helps.
