It was a fun time. Thursday got rained out so they had to make up that race on Saturday which really put a time crunch on everyone. I only got to make 3 passes. One time trial and two races. Lost first round in both due to the dumb car.
Everyone says how racing out of Spokane losses 3 tenths or so off the ET. So I was expecting to run 10.5s in full street trim (92 octane, full exhaust, street radials, all motor). With a 15 mph head wind, my first pass was a 10.045. The air got a little worse when it came time to race, so I dialed a 10.05. Cut a .003 light against a 7.50 dragster and then proceeded to breakout running a 9.992. Got a talking to by tech officials about running too fast (I don't have a comp. license... yet). He told me to just turn the nitrous off... should have seen the look on his face when I said it was off. haha
Dialed 10.00 yesterday just figuring I would hit the brakes. There was no head wind yesterday and the air was even better. This time I was against a 7.20 dragster. Cut a .012 light and lifted/braked at the mph light on the top end. Double breakout with me running 9.90 that time but he didn't breakout quite as bad so he moved on. It was a good race.
The funny part is, the timing map I had in it was more conservative than what I run on the street (to help pull power out of it). Only took the hood off twice for the whole weekend for maintenance (a couple more times to show the motor to those interested). Once to check the timing when we first go there, and once to see how fouled the plugs were from idling around the pits.
So, now I just need to get my license so I can dial what the car is going to do and maybe get passed first round. Hey Phil, want to take a trip to Walla Walla first of next season to be one of my licensed buddies?
Attached is a picture of my first pass just off the line. It appears the street radials are doing pretty good.
