Yes, its true- I, Kendra, was arrested! And its a pretty long story- sorry!!
So, it has not been Erics and my week, to say the least. Over the last two days, he's had to go into the hospital for a collapsed lung and I got arrested last night (24th at around 10 PM).....so here's my story:
Once upon a time...actually back in March...I was pulled over for DWLS 3 deg- yeah yeah yeah, not paying my ticket was my first mistake, getting pulled over was my second- anyway. So I had to go to court on the 25th of Sept, a Monday morning. Got up to go to work with Eric- Eric had put just water in the radiator which had frozen that night. So when we got in the car (aka the Supra :)) to go to work, it was overheating like it loved to do without water running through the system. So when we got to work 45 mins later (usually a 15 min drive), I remembered that I had court. My mother couldnt take me, the Supra was out of the picture because of overheating and I had to be to court in an hour (all the way from Post Falls, ID to downtown Spokane). So, I called the court, told them I couldnt make it, they said that I would need to come to the courthouse and get a court date for a bench warrant recall- because missing my court that morning was going to cause a warrant to be put out. Yippee skippy! So, I finally got dt that Friday, the 29th. Got a bench warrant recall date for NOVEMBER!!! Yikes! And that was the earliest one they had...*Wonderul Spokane, how I love thee! * (please note the sarcasm in that statement). So I had a meeting this wonderful tuesday evening on Evergreen (which is just one exit east of the hospital on Pines in the Valley). So, instead of taking the freeway back to the hospital to go back to staying with Eric, I decided to take the faster and better back way. I got into the parking lot of the hospital, and of course, JUST as I was pulling in, I see the cherries and blueberries going off. So I pull into a parking spot (and yes, I knew about my warrant so I was kinda scared). Gave the lady Valley officer mhy license, registration (no insurance yet- was working on that). I sent a text to Eric letting him know (who also knew about my warrant) that I got pulled over, who then called my mother (who also knew about my warrant). My mother also just happens to work at the hospital that Eric is at. So while Eric was talking to my mother, the lady officer came up to me and told me that she had to arrest me because of the warrant. I thought it was a dream! This couldnt have been happening to me! Seriously! Im 20 years old, LDS (mormon), never-done-anything-bad-in-my-life (well illegal anyway) and here I am, outside of Erics window (yes, I saw him and the nurse watching me) getting arrested! So, they handcuffed me (which I now have bruises and bumps and redmarks from- four hours after they took them off!) She put me in the back of her car (which, mind you, the seats are plastic- and very uncomfortable- and not only that! But I BARELY fit back there! And IM 5'2"!!! How do big tall fat guys fit back there?!!!!) So we sat in the car for about 45 mins- she was filling out paperwork and talking to people with her laptop and checking on files and whatnot AND we were waiting for Outback Towing to come tow my car (which is $280 to get out in the morning by 8AM or its an extra $70 :(). So after waiting for the 45 mins, we finally start driving. Let me make sure that I paint this picture for you clearly so you can understand how they're letting the police officers drive these days.
1) She didnt buckle me in- she attempted to, and I have no idea what her beef was, she was like 1/2 inch from actually getting the buckle in the other part of the seatbelt but decided not to secure me safely in the back.
2) They say that they will give us tickets and whatnot for talking on cell phones while driving- so I wonder how they will feel when they realize that they're officers literally TYPE with both hands while driving ON THE FREEWAY!! I dont care if you're Dale Earnhardt- you better have at LEAST ONE HAND on the steering wheel- ESPECIALLY when you're starting to drift into other lanes of traffic! Holy Crap! Seriously! Use your God-given BRAIN!
3)Speeding and not using blinkers most of the time- arent those ticket-related issues also?? Speeding tickets (God knows I get them). Improper lane change (One of my biggest pet peeves- just ask Eric ;))
All of this made me kinda mad- at the time, not really showing it because I was afraid of staying the night in some bug-infested, disease ridden, dump with actual criminals. Other than that, and the 3 pat downs that I got (all by females thankfully), it wasnt too bad. Wouldnt want it to happen again. It was pretty quick- sat in this waiting area for about 20 mins while they processed whatever. And they didnt even have me pay anything for a bond or bail or whatever it was that most people have to pay. I just have to get my car out of the yard, plus I have to go to the court house tomorrow to set up a different court date. Or else Im royally screwed.
Sorry this was such a long post- Im a little tired now- will be going to sleep. Thanks everyone for all of your concern for Eric. He really appreciates it and I really appreciate it.
Who knew I was such a rebel? ;)
