Sent me the wrong turbo

So i ordered my "garrett' from an online store on honda-tech. Paid $500 shipped. Well i got it today and its not a garrett, its one of those knock off turbos. So i emailed the company and they called me back about an hour later and we discussed it. They were basicaly out of stock so they sent me the cheap one. So my choice was i could send that one back and wait for the garrett to arrive or they were gonna refund $400 into my paypal. Sorry im cheap, so i took the $400. So i basicaly picked this turbo up for $100 shipped. So what do you guys think? Theres already $400 pending on my account so im pretty stoked about that. Hope i made the right choice, it looks pretty well assembled though.

Had a clearance issue, nothing the dremel didnt take care of.

Looks like a china made setup, "onefab" manifold, ssauto wastegate and turbo.

The wastegates seem to work ok, the turbos are a hit and miss, but you'll definately want to brace the manifold.

Ya i had actualy read and heard alot of good things abou this manifold. My roomate got the older style and its braced in like 7 different spots. And this one is beefy as hell. The turbo looks good, i picked up the .35 oil restrictor. Its a cheap wastegate but i heard those are pretty good. With a bov, and and 13x7x3.5" fmic, im under 450 shipped now, since i got 400 back on the turbo.

Well, you will be the first person in the history of the world to tune your SSautochrome stuff with AEM EMS. Good luck with the turbo and manifold, like Krypto said, it's all hit or miss. Also remember t3/t4 is only good to like 400ish whp so you will need to upgrade later if you want like 600+ whp.

Looks awesome. Shall we take best on how many cracks you get with that combo? lol Nah, I've never tried my luck with that knock off stuff so I can't say either way. I've just read a countless number of bad reviews like we all have. Hopefully it holds up!

Thanks for the comments guys. Im not just gonna bolt the mani. on and go. ive read a ton of threads on the number one ssac hated place in the world....Honda-tech, and over the last 6 months ive read more and more good things about their manifolds getting better quality. This one has the 50mm primaries and ive seen a couple of guys use this same mani. after a little bracing and using sc-61 for 500hp. i wouldnt have taken my chances with their older style mani's. As far as the turbo, like i said, i paid for a garrett but got this instead, so for $100 shipped, for now im not gonna complain. I already knew the turbo was gonna be my weak spot for reaching 600hp. but for this next year i need the car to be somewhat streetable, and garretts hold their value pretty well so i was gonna use, learn some stuff....sell it and go bigger when the time came. IDK, i prolly made th wrong choice as far as the turbo went, but well see.

Nope, my turbo b16 setup was run with a ssauto manifold and tuned on AEM. The manifold has changed hands several times and is still running strong.

My buddy had that same manifold and after few
days boosting on it his boost gauge started creeping after checking the manifold over he switched his wastegate out with a Tial 38mm while doing that he noticed the flange was cracked under the wastegate fixed that and after that it cracked on one of the runners had them all fixed now works great................JOSH

Ya i think i see a couple of weak spots so i gonna have a little welding done. Haent decided whet i gonna do for tuning. I wanted to run EMS, but just got too much stuff to buy. So i thinkin just chipping the ecu for now and buying a wideband and finding a good tuner for time being.

sounds pretty good remember I have that Wideband just gotta find out if I got one with the EMS Chris said that I would no longer need it he ordered one for me but I just wanna hold on to it. I wanna see the other one...

Not wanting to step on any toes in here but if you guys are wanting any of the ssautochrome products, I have a friend who lives in spokane who does some of their ebay auctions and has a good track record on some other forums. Just thought since this is such a small local community that info might be of some use.
